He signed with the Reds some time ago , he wasnt interested in coming back to Canberra , I dont think he was interested in League at all

He played Australian Schoolboys Union, he'd always wanted to try professional union, and with the Reds losing a few of their key players they snatched him up.

Will probably make their #15 his own this season, wish he'd signed for the Tahs though, still a livewire.

His playing style is far more conductive to Union than League. Dynamic broken play and counter attacking player.

Marty wanted to return to QLD; something to do with family up here. He actually contacted the Reds himself to get a run.

I doubt we'll see him in RL again.

Agree Dubster ... macca was one of my favourite players and it hit hard when he announced he was leaving.

He was my fav too and he could do freakish things , I always thought it was unfair expecting him to takeover Lozza. I just wished our structure allowed him to run more , he always seemed to pass too much.
It hurt when he left but it really didnt suprise me , he always seemed a bloke who wanted to see the world.

i must confess i was quite besotted with Marty..when the rumour hit town that he was looking at a return to OZ i almost crunched my self.

It has definately revamped my interest in the super 14's,

i can't wait to see how he handles it.
