Media Cock-ups

I just emailed ABCOnline to tell them to change an error in their story about Willy Mason and the drinking business. At the bottom of the story it said that the first test was on Monday. It's hard to belive that someone could make this mistake, even a non-RL fan.

Anyway I just thought I'd start a thread about other recent errors in media stories.

Another good one fairly recently was Sports Tonight talking about Eric Watson giving away the free tickets to Kiwis during the NRL finals... except it was Mick Watson who was shown with the super saying 'Eric Watson: owner NZ Warriors'

Channel Ten are pretty crap, but that one was even bad by their standards.

Oh I just remembered an even better one. Sky News had a graphic that listed the Kangaroo squad when it was announced and on the top it said 'Australian team for tour of New Zealand France and Germany' GERMANY!!

I don't think the boys at Ostenbruk would be any match for the Roos. But then again...

I hate when those mexicans call the NRL theme song "whats my team"? It gives me the s**ts. I don't know if they're really that dumb or they're just trying to anoy us.

Rex Hunt refered to Brisbane as a "FORMER Rugby League stronghold". Apparantly the Lions got a decent crowd in one night and he thought that the whole city had suddenly converted to AFL football.

I live in Brisbane and the comments about Brisbane being overtaken by AFL pisses me off big-time. Bill Mullins, in fact everyone from Channel Ten, like to infer this at every opportunity. Bill is obviously another Victorian cock-sucker who has invaded Qld along with anyone who suuports the Lions. If only NSW and Qld could close the Victorian border we'd all be better off.

I remembered another mistake too. Remember the Hopoate thing? Yeah okay we all do. The Courier Mail did a feature on him at the time, not just a story a half page feature in the front of the paper, and they said he was a NZ international. This isn't that bad, but it was written by one of the paper's rugby league writers, not just some ignorant writer who doesn't know sh!t about RL.

PS: ABCOnline still hasn't changed the mistake in that Willy Mason story after I emailed them. I know it's a minor point, but we have enough trouble promoting the roo tour without the national broadcaster getting it all wrong.
