With the final round of the premiership coming up on Sunday it is an opportune time to update some news from within the Sea Eagles camp.
* The Albert Torrens switch to St.George.There has been massive discussion on the BB and some so called fans have really gone over the top in their criticism of management. The entire organisation is disappointed that Alby has decided to go BUT a maximum figure was decided on for Albert and a one year deal was offered. The Dragons topped the money and offered Alby a two year deal.It is as simple as that.Alby wanted to stay but in his own words "is leaving to secure his young family." He goes with our best wishes and will be honoured at the game on Sunday by leading the side onto the field in his final match. There are no hard feelings from either side.
* In form winger/centre Chris Hicks has had a successful shoulder operation this week and will resume training in the off season.
* Manly have announced the signing of Josh White as Flegg coach for 2005.He comes with
a good reputation and brings with him some exciting prospects.
* Manly have come to terms with exciting young Wests Wollongong winger and goalkicker
Adam Luchetti.Luchetti was recommended to the Sea Eagles by his coach - ex Eagle fullback Brendon Reeves.Reeves says Luchetti is as fast as Scott Donald and an excellent goalkicker.
* If Manly beat Newtown in the premier league clash at brookvale Oval on Sunday there is a chance they will grab a home ground final game the following week at Brookvale Oval.
* The player awards for the 2004 season will be presented in the Leagues Club auditorium after Sunday's last home game against Melbourne at Brookvale Oval.A special award will be made to Steve Menzies to mark his record try scoring performance.
*The winner of the prestigous Doug Daley Memorial Trophy for Clubman of the Year will be announced on Sunday night. It is a shock.
Awards have been named after the late Roy Bull,Bob Batty and Russ Bull - all life members of our great club.
Hope this brings you up to date. - Media
