Mediterranean Cup results, day 2
The second day of the 2004 Mediterranean Cup took place last night (Tuesday 5th October) in Tripoli. France faced Serbia-Montenegro and Lebanon faced Morocco.

Unfortunately France and Serbia-Montenegro played only 25 minutes before the Tripoli International Stadium was thrown into the darkness of the night due to a power cut. France was leading 18-4, with Romain Gagliazzo scoring 3 tries. Without floodlights the game was declared over by the organizers.

Thanks to a phone call from the Lebanese Republic Presidence to the electricity board, the second game of the evening started, but later than scheduled.

Lebanon, with a nearly full strength squad, won their second game against Morocco 50-14. Nicolas Toufic was the man of the match. He scored 22 points (40 in 2 games). Charlie Farah scored 2 tries, Charlie Nohra, Georges Nadira, Sami Halabi, Gilbert Chahine and Tommy Mansour scored 1 try each.

With the first game being stopped early and the electricity turned back on late, lots of spectators left the stadium before the start of the second game…

The final of the tournament will be the Lebanon-France game, as usual…

The full schedule of the 2004 Mediterranean Cup is:

Saturday 2nd October, Tripoli International Stadium
France v Morocco: 46-4
Lebanon v Serbia: 64-4

Tuesday 5th October, Tripoli International Stadium
France v Serbia 18-4 (game stopped after 25 minutes due to a power cut)
Lebanon v Morocco 50-14

Saturday 9th October, Tripoli International Stadium
Serbia v Morocco 6.00
Lebanon v France 8.00

Haha, pity about the lights going out in France's game, although I'm impressed that Serbia-Montenegro were so close after twenty five minutes.

Morocco made a fist of it too, it would seem.
