Melbourne Cup bets thread

So, post before you boast! What is everyone doing or has already done in terms of punting for the big race next Tuesday?

I usually keep it pretty light-on... just a $20 nose bet on whichever I like, and my punters club boxes up a few for the first four or trifecta which costs only a few pennies each.

Gone with C'est La Guerre this year for my single bet. On at 32s on the fixed price around a week ago, so a win would be a nice little collect

Punters club has snared the trifecta last year and the one before too, so hopefully we'll get our hattrick. Selections there still peing

After his run on saturday I put $20 on largo lad at $150. May not get a run but in the mean-time I'll load up on him in the Saab.

With Efficient out i can't see anything beating the oversea's horses, Mad Rush is the horse i will be putting most of my money on though.

I'm leaning towards Mad Rush at this stage, after the Caulfield Cup run. Can't see any locals doing anything really.
Haven't worked out my tri yet, but thinking Profound Beauty or Yellowstone to be included to bump up the value as Septimus looks the one to beat of course.
Might even just take all the internationals in a boxed tri

I just put $2 e-w on a horse every race to have an interest and then play around with exotics on the Cup.

My Dad had that Maldivian thing last Saturday going into a feature double with Red Ruler in the MLB Cup and now it has to qualify tomorrow in some sh*t race.
He's got about 5K going on it but it's not guaranteed a start in the cup and apparently it's ''all-in'' betting and if it doesn't start he loses his money altogether.
I'll be damned if I know what this all in betting bullsh*t is! Just another excuse for SportsTAB to rip us off!
I once got dudded like that with Willie Tonga for first try scorer, he didn't play, and Mathew Hayden, highest runs, he didn't play, and they kept my money.

I liked the run of Mad Rush too in the Caulfield Cup but he's second favourite at 5's.
Had he put in a crap run in the Caulfield they'd have him quoted as 30-1 for the cup and no one would want sh*t to do with him.

Does that Seymour cup winner Mandella get a start in the MLB cup? Who's to say he can't run a place?
