Melbourne Cup really is a lottery.

Anyone who doesn't think anything can happen in a 3200m race with 24 runners must have rocks in their heads.

You could run the race again in a couple months time with the same field and get 3 different place getters.

Only bet what your prepared to kiss goodbye.

They don't call it the 4 legged lottery for nothing.:)

Heard this morning on the radio that some woman in Melbourne put $8 win (?) on Prince Of Penzance, splattered it all over Facebook with a pic of the winning ticket as proof.

By some weird method, a sly merkin cashed in the ticket before the woman could collect. I don't know how they did it...quoted a receipt number or put in a lost ticket claim, but geez there's some opportunistic lowlifes in the world.

Apparently this happened in Perth and the woman had $10 ew on Punce Of Penzance. It was reported that the barcode on the ticket was used to collect the winnings. Somehow, the coppers reckon they can track down the culprit...good luck with that one!

The TAB can easily track down the terminal it was cashed at as well as the time. All it becomes a matter of then is getting the security footage from the outlet. If it was one of her FB friends, then she can probably identify them. It's actually going to be pretty easy to track.
