Melbourne Storm came into existence in 1998 as part of the newly formed National Rugby League competition.

The Club was the first ever professional Victorian rugby league club and spent little time stamping their mark, winning their maiden premiership in just their second year.

Storm have played in a total of nine grand finals during their 22-year history, missing the finals on just three occasions.

The Club has built itself on the values of family, accountability, hard work, respect and passion. It is these values that drive Melbourne Storm to succeed each and every year, both on and off the field
    .

While it is nice to see RL get some recognition I can't help feel that the description of the Storm misses the mark given they largely cheated their way to the top

    Yep. Agree there.

I do wonder whether Melbourne lost any points whatsoever for the breach period though.

Not much point taking points for years past. All you can do is strip premierships. Eels robbed in 09 unfortunately.

It's based on the past five years.

There's nothing inaccurate about the description.

When they produce a player, this may be considered.

After 20 odd years not one Victorian has played for Australia. Not one.

    Money can't buy me love.

Unsure on their stats, buy you could win 25 from 26 but lose the GF. Does that make you the best team (with these pre requisites) or would that go to the premiers..?

Fantastic stuff. There's an Ice Hockey team from Canberra and a Sydney Water Polo team in the top ten.

I have no doubt Melbourne, the Roosters and Cronulla should be in such esteemed company.

It will be the culmination of a five-year business plan the owners brought with them when they purchased the team from News Corporation in May 2013 for several million dollars and the promise of additional funding for a few years.

Melbourne entered a hastily combined competition the following year under News' ownership, and won the 1999 grand final. But it was losing up to $10 million annually, and was later estimated to have cost News $75 million in 15 years.

Oh well now you know why they where in so many Grand Finals.

Says a lot for the Dragoons, who weren't even on the radar.
