I've been impressed by Melbourne, not just by their recruitment of players but by their good support. I always thought they were going to struggle in an AFL stranglehold, but unlike the Melbourne Storm they're carving out a nice niche for themselves.

It definately helps when the AFL is not on!

Now they just need to get rid of the New Zealand Knights and let Tassie have a team (Tassie Devils) and the A-League will be huge down south!

Helps when you have Italians, Greeks etc.. all comming up to watch the team.

Its useless comparing the Victory crowds to the Storms..

In relation to the game... does anyone have a clip of Archie Thompson's goal?

THe one where he was surround by 4 defenders apparantly? It's a "shoe-in" for goal of the season they say...

It was a good goal but terrible defending it happened right in front if us yesterday. Spencers in round 1 still the best.

Melbourne I am not surprised by at all. It is QLD that has surprised me most. Perth also but for the opposite reason.

Once Melbourne get there stadium instead of playing at the crap that is Olympic Park it will be even better. The acoustics are not very good there at all due to the open spaces.

Imprssed with them yesterday. Was also impressed by the Roar at Suncorp. Onwards to Central Coast and Adelaide next.

Melbourne, when full strength have a VERY strong side. Thompson up front, Kitzbichler and Muscat in the midfield.

I still think Sydney FC are still title contenders with Yorke and Co. I have to say Zdrillic has been disapointing and i still think Sydney lack a creative midfielder.

There is a side up north not happy with one of there strikers and in January it looks like Sydney will be trading Zdrillic out and this player in.

Salazar is the other option but they'll get more for Zdrillic.

Agreed Moffo. I actually think the Mariners play some good football too but there not as constant as Melbourne. Melbourne yesterday were as good a side as I have seen play in the top league of Australia for a long long time.
