The Chooks easily dispatched the hapless Guppies leaving them nothing but salary cap rumours to monger. They are dead set hopeless and the new joke of the League. Which brings me to the former holders of that title, The Vermin. I didnt get my 60 last week, but will it happen this time?

1. Anthony Minichiello V Brad Watts - "The Blue Moth" continues his superb running from the back, and is up there statistically with the top Metre Eaters. Is fluttering into the attacking line and has developed a good long selective pass to his outside men. Adds a new dimension to the Chooks attack. He faces "Blackout". The dim bulb needs to shine some light on the Vermin situation at the back, hopefully this week, the AGL reminder notice wont be ignored.

2. Chris Walker V Nathan Merritt - "Texas Ranger" back in the saddle and looks like he may secure another season at the Chooks. The recent release of "Mullet" headed for the Tigpies in 04, means that there may be enough in the coffers to put that Rhinestone holster on lay-by. Starting to fit in, and looking for work in attack. His opponent hasnt been a hit since the 70s since his "Metoric" rise but "Max" will have to keep his eyes on the Texan else he may be "Slippin Away".

3. Shannon Heggarty V Lee Hookey - A little bit of a warm down for "Latino Heat" following a blistering perfect score the previous week at the regionals against the Grass Stains. Good opportunity to try some inovative hybrid moves, and shouldn't have too much resistance this week facing "Adams". He's creepy and he's spooky, mysterious and cookey.....anyone would be if you've ever been an Integral Scum.

4. Ryan Cross V Russell Richardson - Top shelf from "Quentin" last week, with the very likely chance of the knee brace being permenantly removed if he keeps that up. Great in attack, really starting to score, and his defense is continuing to improve - B-...almost solid. Facing the whiley politician "Backbencher". The former Senator, is in the race again, after losing his last election, but he must deliver on his policies or find himself on the backbench again...namely the bench at Newtown.

5. Todd Byrne V Luke McDougall - "Carpet" returned to some decent form after a heavy knock the previous week. Still a little scattered, but the Waiffey Weave, will need to apply the pressure and gain some momentum cheading into the last chapter of the season. He's up against "Roid 3"

6. Brad Fittler V Ashley Harrison - "The Messiah" seems to lose his flock when spelled, having to continue performing minor miracles to ensure they stay on the right path. Has a small cloud surrounding him over a possible knee niggle, but nothing a new batch of Holy Water cant fix. He has the pleasure of teaching this week's lesson to "And Martin". The merkin mechanic will be under pressure to perform against the Almighty one, with the threat of looming "Mr Mars Bars" waiting in the wings...oh...what pressure? "The Messiah" to perform a talent transplant...yeah yeah!!

7. Brett Finch V Jamie Russo - Little "Budgie" starting the chirp away excitedly pecking at cheaks allround, as he starts finding his place in the cage. Is eliminating the error rate, and is starting to hit that zone in the attacking line. Looks to be gaining the confidence he needs to shine in the semis. Facing ex Chook in "Renee". The Red headed thespian, continues gaining rave reviews playing diverse uncharactersitic roles. Her latest release sees her playing the part of a First Grade footballer in a Pub Grade club.

8. Jason Cayless V Luke Stuart - Officially the number one Prop at the Chooks, "Captain Caveman" continues his punishing hitups and club wielding defense. WIll be out to add some nice bunny skins to his Megalodon hall runner, and has his club firmly aimed at " Wagstaffe". The ex Brit, with fame well past him, last had success in the late 60s early 70s, much like the Vermin. The Vermin are building such a culture in hope that a time machine may one day see them revisit their glory days...all those centuries ago. Signing players of his calibre will ensure they'll fit into that culture once there.

9. Craig Wing V Jason Death - Genuine superstar and model player "Cleo" gets another shot at destroying his former club...again. He's up against one of the scarier members of the Vermin in "Reaper". He tried to impose a cloud of ill fate over the Chooks last time, wielding his scythe like tackles at the Chooks, only to be frustrated by the Chooks seemingless immortality. Scream 3 was scarier.

10. Todd Payten V Andrew Hart - A touch of sadness this week with the announcement that rising cult figure "Mullet" will be departing for the Tigpies next season. Is starting to deliver on a promise, and is playing powerfully. Good luck to him and lets hope the Chooks send him off a winner in 2003. Facing the struggling little veggie "Pea". Tries hard to lift his fellow beaten pack week in and out, but the reults show its a struggle. And after this Sunday it will also signal his intentions as a waste of time. Back in the pod, where its all nice and fuzzy.

11. Justin Smith V Michael Crocker - Not much game time for the curling wand totin' RSL club fave last week. Came of with a buggered sternum, but has been named for Sunday's matinee seesion. He's a great asset to the Chooks as he's defense is superb and his attack is starting to keep the opposition in 2 minds. He's got a handing platform clad boot as well. He's up against that gutless wonder, "Doctor". The Chooks have this rabbit punchers number down and will be looking to jam him all the way to Alph Centaury. No hiding behind the Robot for this bubble headed boobey. Oh the Pain!

12. Mark Minichiello V Chris Flannery - Cleanly executed contracts last week, saw "Hitman" return to the Don's A list with a superb performance in attack and defense. He seems to be pulling up from those street battles OK, and is fitting top fitness and form at the right end of the season. He's up against another ex Chook, and brother of "The Blue Moth", "Bogon". Shows some class at times, after all blood is thicker than contracts. This is a battle of the wing nuts.

13. Luke Ricketson V Shane Rigon - "Stud for Life" named again this week, signalling a flurry of prophilactic sales. Will boost the Chooks if he plays, as his defense in the middle and leadership by example is the stuff they need to hit their best. Faciong yet another ex Chook, "Truckie". In contrast, this very ugly Vermin, provides the Vermin with some versatility covering for their deficiencies in the back row and centres when needed. Problem is you cant be in 4 places at once. Has a 20 tonne license, but is trying to drive the Tonka Truck Vermin.

The Bench

Croatian Gippie V Baxter-Birney
Cuzzy Bro V The Commentator
Danger Will V Night Fill
Spiderman V Mr. Mars Bars

Well the Chooks need to overcome their injury concerns and use these remaining games to build the momentum needed to carry them into the finals in a good frame of mind. The Vermin showed they are capable of suprising you with their storming run last week to beat the Tigpies, but against the Chooks who will be focusing on retaining their best defensive stat, they will find it hard. The Chooks will hopefully put their recent injury woes behind them and will play from here on a new level. The TAB got it right...

 Still hurting from ANZAC Day are you?
The only thing creepy about the NRL is how the Roosters keep magically geting under the salary cap.
