Merritts Flying Feet Fly the Colours
30 Apr 2009
Nathan Merritt is a proud South Sydney Rabbitoh but he is also a proud Indigenous Australian.
For many years Nathan has been displaying his wonderful try scoring efforts on the Rugby League field and now wants to give something back to the South Sydney community.
Nathan and the people from X Blades boots have proudly made two exclusive pairs of Xcalibur Flash football boots for Merritt which will carry the Aboriginal colours.
These boots will be worn by Merritt throughout the remainder of the year, starting last Friday night when the Rabbitohs defeated the Sharks at ANZ Stadium, a game in which he scored a run away try. At the conclusion of the season the boots will be signed, framed and auctioned for charity.
Only three individual boots will be framed and donated to various charities.
This is a great initiative by Nathan and X Blades and is a great way for Merritt to show his proud heritage and give back to the game that has given him so much.
I could not think of another way to show how proud I am to be Indigenous by wearing the Aboriginal colours on the NRL field, Merritt said this week.
Keep an eye on the Rabbitohs website for more details throughout the year.
