Merritt did what you asked him to Reefy . . .

. . . even though he made a couple of poor handling errors he was coming in looking for the pill, making strong DHR's. He didn't do anything spectacular tonight but he has the right idea now don't you think?

I think he played himself out of a guaranteed wing spot.

He proved what many have believed for a long time, his hands are shite !

Maybe he has the right idea, but I still think he is lacking something in attack.
He hasn't made any breaks and we haven't had a single opportunity to see him in open space
He does seem pretty safe under the high balls though

He had the chance to show us what he could do tonight but as what has been said before, he couldn't hold the ball.

I'd love to see him get a chance to kick at goal. Tonight was the perfect opportunity even though Noddy had a good night.

We have given simmons plenty of time and i think merritt deserves the same. He was okay last night under the high ball and simmons to me is a great future player but ask anyone of one the southern hill last night, he is the new colin best, one who has plenty of potenial but makes you nervous when ever he is near the ball.

HHmmmm. No, I feel quite comfortable with Simmons.
I stop looking once I see the ball travelling in Merrits direction. He will either drop it cold, drop it in the tackle or just throw it at the opposition.
He does run across field very well but unlike Dykes, he's not trying to set up play.
& every step he takes, the closer he is to dropping the ball again.

& on Simmons, it seems his job is a forced one, as he is a natural right winger, not left.
As can be seen when he scored that try off Sullys pass last night.

The Merritt bashers on this forum need to open their eyes. He did stop one of the strongest opposition wingers in the comp from scoring in the corner. He does have the speed that countless on this forum reckon that Reick has, but never shows. Simmons has been caught out in defense so many times this year you can't keep a tally on it. Saleh only plays the first 10 minutes then goes through the motions. So he dropped the ball, are we going to drop Gallen for dropping it in the first minute as well? or Sullivan for dropping it and passing over the sideline? Merritt deserves a go without being bagged by would be's if they could be sideline narks like this imbecile Beekershark.

I'm actually the president of the "lets f**k Merrit off" club so you should probably retract your last post & aim it at me.
& after reading your post, I can now see the light. Thankyou.
Merrit is a secret agent player. I get it! Its all a bluff.
He can run, but never does.
He can catch, but never does.
He can pass, but never does.
He can support, but never does.
He can kick, but never does.
He can step, but never does.
& then in the Grand Final, he will come out & they will say "ohh good, they gave it to merrit" & he will step, run, kick, pass, support & score the match winning try.
Thank f**k your here Wozza you genius, its had us all baffled!

Merrit had a mixed night. However he did score a try, and saved one with his tackle on McDougall. Deserves another chance in my view. Simmo was solid all night, and even made some effective tackles.

merritt is in the same category as simmons a very very talented young player and i certainly hope raper sticks with him, rieck isnt up to the necessary standard.

i know if they were both on the market at the same time who would attract the most attention.

his tackle on macdougall and the way he read that play was first rate.

if some posters on this forum were selecting the team we would have a different line up each week.

be patient this club is building up very nicely indeed.

On which performance have you formed that opinion?
His read on that play was f**king awful.
He made up for his mistake by taking the man into touch.
It would not have happened against a more experienced winger Like a Grothe, Meli, Walker, Roberts et al.

Walker  Roberts    I remember McKenna and Mellor running over Roberts like he was road kill. Amos's poor little Bambi doe eyes got very large just before they hit.

I don't think you've chosen the best examples of defensive wingers to illustrate yoour point.
