They sound awesome mate, might have to get some of their stuff \m/

Their demo tracks are free on Bandcamp (you should be able to find them from the link), not sure when the album is out exactly. They're also supporting Conan next month and will have an album release party at sone point.

I heard a couple of tracks from DFs, was impressed.

Opeth can suck it now.

DF's new album is different, but awesome.

Opeth...well, they've clearly changed direction, but Pale Communion is still good music IMO. Not really metal, but pure music.

Early Opeth was the shit, though.

I see a band called aversions crown are the opening act before Whitechappel and Devil Driver. Anyone listen to them? I can't say I have heard them before.

Been looking forward to this gig for a while :)

Luckily he's good at what he does, then!

lol you're not wrong, I don't think he's held down a normal job in his life, used to just drink, smoke weed, skate and play Sega Master System games before he was a rock star (though he probably played a bit of guitar somewhere in there too).

Devil Driver put on an awesome show as I expected, first time I had got to see them live and definitely wasn't disappointed.

The local band Aversions Crown were not too bad, it's almost like they are trying to be the heaviest band of all time though. Worth watching if you haven't seen them before.

Personally, I'm really digging In Flames' new album, "Siren Charms". They've changed up their sound over the course of their last few albums, but I like the sound they ended up with.

Just found out that NZ band Jakob are coming back with an album this month, haven't heard about them for a few years (since I last saw them open for Isis around 2008 I think).

If you like your "post-rock" atmospheric and without screamy vocals, then check these fullahs out : http://jakob.co.nz/

I only really listened to them on compilation albums from the early 00's, but enjoyed what I heard.

Went to Joe Satriani here in Wellington last night, he's still bloody amazing (last saw him a couple of years ago with Steve Vai in a G3 concert here). Pitch perfect and slams solos like a boss, the screamy high notes that pierce through your body are awesome.
