Lack of conviction doesn't mean 'not guilty'. Means closer to 'not proven'.

I think thats what he is getting at.

That's a slightly liberal approach to the justice system isn't it? I could just as easily say he's innocent as he wasn't proven guilty. Personally, I wasn't at the case, neither was Parra, so I choose to accept the on record case files and criminal record of Michael Jackson, neither of which convict him of any crime. That's how our judicial systems are run, you have the right to be assumed innocent until proven guilty, which Jackson never was.

I don't believe that you've read the case files.

The statements from several of his victims were leaked. If you feel so inclined, then they are not hard to find.

He wasn't popular with many people because of his private life, fair enough.

But why come into a thread that is mourning the loss of THE defining musician and icon of the twentieth century? Why not create your own threads to put sh*t on him?

f**k me people are classless pieces of sh*t.

I don't think a lot of people realise or truly understand just how influential Michael Jackson was. People compare him to Elvis, however:

* Elvis' "dancing" consisted of swivelling his hips
* He never wrote the music
* He had a fairly lazy work ethic

Michael Jackson redefined pop music; was a genius dancer; had an amazing voice; wrote the music and lyrics for many of his hits, a la Prince; and had a strong work ethic. Combine that with his humanitarian work and you have yourself someone who deserves all the credit and kudos he has received and more.

MJ was the most influential performer for most, amazing he was, he revolutionised dancing, Video clips, beats etc

And as fo he child abuse sh*t etc, well, no charges were ever laid, and money cannot buy out such claims, cases as such are dealt with through the law, no amount of money ca save you, just ask Phil Spector, Madoff etc

If an aquittal in an innocent until proven guilty legal system is not good enough then why bother having a trial at all?

This is particularly the case when it comes to child abuse charges which can obviously ruin someones reputation for life. So if someone is found not guilty of said charges then i consider the matter closed, because if we don't then that person is as good as guilty anyway due to the court public opinion.

Seeing "past" child molestation earns people the title.

I suppose Anthony Laffranchi is a rapist in your eyes.

In any case, the point stands - you deliberately came into the one thread set up to remember his achievements and positives in life to put sh*t on him. Well done. Classy.

I'm pretty astounded that there are people out there who actually rate the likes of "Earth Song" and "Heal the World". The image of Tonearm singing along to Earth Song is hilarious.

ftr I'm a lifelong MJ devotee, certainly not a hater, but he put out a lot of pap post-Thriller.

That may be, but the man truly believed in what he was saying - "Heal The World" was close to his heart and he firmly believed in what the message in the song was.

I don't care what you believe I do or don't do. For the record, I have been reading through the files. At the start of the process, I admired Jackson for his music and seriously questioned him as an ethical person. During the process as I am I find myself seeing it being more a money rush from people who know no better and then a kaleidoscope of morons who believe the printed media (which I did and was, and I certainly ragged out on Jackson to my friends prior to reading into it more) rather than go and dig further and beyond and find their version of the truth.

He wasn't popular with many people because of his private life, fair enough.

I think that's the intention of Four Corners, I would rather this forum be more on music than political and legal commentary.

I don't know if Elvis merely swivelled his hips, its all got to be placed into context of the cultural background of the US at the time. He pretty much popularised taboo black style music into white pop culture.

Seeing "past" child molestation earns people the title.

Again, no conviction. Its your choice to view him as such although the legal process judicially found him without a criminal record. You can't deny people the right to mourn and reminisce when like you have the right to fall for the media spin, they have the right to not believe the media hype.

Thriller, Beat It, Billie Jean, even his discoey sounding stuff off Off the Wall, and his childhood feats from the Jackson 5 were outstanding. I found as his time went on his music perhaps lost the edge in terms of its musical shape but those songs you mention have symbolic meanings to them.

The image of a scrawny white kiwi flapping himself over Manu Vatuvei is even funnier.

lol

If it's any consolation I had to sit through 2 hours of Michael Jackson music this afternoon.
