In fairness to the ARLC, they introduced the mid-season Rep window and have ensured it has remained as part of the season calendar since 2015 (unfortunately it was cancelled this year, but it is back next)

They have also underwritten at least 2 Tests in this window for each of the past 5 years (in more recent times 3 Tests have been underwritten).

The IRL has simply piggybacked on what the ARLC has done here, something they should have done back in 2015, which will hopefully force the RFL / Super League's hand to comply.
