Whilst dates are still up in the air, it appears the Middle East-Africa (MEA) Championship is set to become a regular part of the Rugby League International calendar.

As it stands the UAE are set to be the hosts of the inaugural tournament based upon the calendar provided by the SARL overnight.

PROPOSED SCHEDULE:
31st October 2014:
South African Rhinos v United Arab Emirates Eagles
Abu Dhabi

4th November 2014:
South African Rhinos v Lebanon Cedars
Abu Dhabi

7th November 2014:
United Arab Emirates Falcons v Lebanon Cedars
Abu Dhabi

Just like the European Championship has helped the code slowly grow and solidify outposts throughout Europe, I personally feel the final introduction of this type of tournament for the will go a long way to helping RL finally gain some traction in Africa.

Definitely, as well as regular competition for South Africa. Good news all round. Pity Morocco never got their act together.

Yeah Morocco is a shame. But, with this MEA premier comp (which will be played at a high level), it provides a clear pathway for Morocco if they want to get their act together. It is also useful to show the Moroccan Government that there is a serious competition held in Abu Dhabi that Morocco can aspire to if they are given a little bit of gov assistance.

Whilst on African Rugby League, it appears the Great Britain Student Pioneers will be visiting Accra in Ghana later this month for a two match series.

The matches are scheduled as:
30th June: Ghana v GB Student Pioneers - Accra
4th July: Ghana v GB Student Pioneers - Accra

According to: https://www.facebook.com/IntlRL

Also on the Ghana Rugby League FB page, they are also trying to organise a match against Sierra Leone later this year as well.
