Overnight, the might of Somerset, lead by centureis from Graeme Smith and Sanath Jayasuriya, disposed of Australia.

Chasing 342 to win, Somerset did it easy with 4 overs to spare! Kasprowicz - 8 overs for 89:lol: The great Shane Watson 8 overs for 70 odd:lol:

Another humiliation. And now Australia must regroup for a tough challenge against the Bangers...who knows, if they really put in they just might have enough to get past the Deshi's.

How The Hell Did They Chase 342 To Win!?!?!?!?!

There two world class import openers who can tear any attack apart decided that in tandem they'd do it in half the time. 197 in 23 overs for the 1st wicket. It did show up the fact that behind McGrath and the two who didn't play Dizzy and Warne that our 4th bowler option might be a worry come the test series. Brett Lee did a should and was replaced after 4 overs. Kasper went for 89 off 8 and apparently looked every year of his 33 years. At least the batting improved. Hayden and Ponting were in full flight when the both retired to give others a bat maybe they should have stayed in and made a few more.

Are the results of these games supposed to be taken seriously?

Shane Watson lost his fiancee to Tom Williams so he can be excused for lacking any sort of focus at the moment.

And that's the feeling ive been getting since the NZ tour. Even Gillespie is looking alittle past it.

Seriously, if England can minimise the damage Warne and McGrath do then they can really, really cash in on the likes of Kaspa, Gillespie and Lee. Without Warne and McGrath NZ woul have piled up some big scores when Aus toured there.

England on the other hand have Hoggard and Harmison to open - hopefully Harmison will be at top form - and Flintoff who is a world class bowler and Jones who is starting to swing it to back them up.

So whilst our bowling atatck still isnt as good, purely because of Warne/McGrath and the fact we have Giles as our spinner, we do have better depth in the fast bowling department. IMO.

Yes, and I'm Camilla Parker Bowles.

Only a rain-affected series can stop Australia from winning the series very comfortably.

two of our batsmen retired to give some one else a hit, and they only went down with 4 overs to, sounds like a practice match to me

how can you possible take this as a serious game Tommy ?

although you may as well enjoy while you can, when the parctise matches are over we wont be retiring

That's all they ever are....if England start getting all cockahoot over the Aussies losing this one they might regret it big time!

It doesnt matter if it was a game of cricket in the park. Bottom line is, if a county side (albeit with Smith and Jayasuriya) chase down 342 with 3.1 overs to spare, it means something.

Are you saying that Kasprowicz didnt care about his figures, as if theres absolutely no pressure on his spot? Are you saying the whole team didnt care that Somerset coasted to a target of 342, yes thats right, 342!

Only a staunch, unobjective Aussie would suggest that such a chase isnt just alittle concerning.

Spot on Tommy. Whilst there's no worries for the batting, to have 345 put on us in 46.5 overs is a bit of a worry. If they kept the rate up (they likely would have accelerated it) they would have made 368. The result is meaningless, the form shown isn't.

its pretty interesting how certain Aussies were talking about an UNDEFEATED tour...and now, theyre widdled down to just meaningless games.!
