Can't help but feel CA will be abit gob smacked by this. I think they would have been banking on him playing in the back to back Ashes series.

Very good player who will be hard to replace. His judgement outside the off stump (apart from the very odd time) was exceptional.

I agree with you. It might affect the selections for new years test, but we'll see. Hard to think of getting rid of Watson now even if he decided to quit bowling

Australia are well and truly f**ked for the upcoming ashes series now. Hell the india tour will probably be a disaster too.

Hussey is our most consistent batsman the last 4 years. Going to be impossible to replace

I must say that his retirement does make the Aussie batting lineup look very weak. Time for Hughes, Watson and Khawaja to really step up now.

I'd say thats Clarke, outside the Ashes 10/11. Hussey has had a revival the last two years but had a poor 30 odd tests leading up to the Ashes in 10/11

I'm as shocked as every one else..

Great servant of Aussie cricket..

Seamlessly took over Bevvo's closing role in ODI's (and was able to transfer it to Tests too) & was a master of batting with the tail..He put on a century stand with Pidge one day..

And his fielding was sensational too..His cover & gully work was as good as it gets..

He is a great advertisement for always believing in your self & never giving up..

And he'll always have Sanga's head on his mantle too..

Another great Aussie bat who couldn't top Dizzy's PB..

Cheers Huss..

...now wait for Warnie to talk up another random Victorian to take his place, Hussey will be almost impossible to replace.

Good on him for going out on a high.

The next 12 months is going to be gruelling , so if he didn't feel up for it likely that would have shone throw in his form.

Great player. Amd a great example to everyone never to give up on a dream.

Wonderful batsmen and an excellent fieldsman, not to mention a guy with a great love of cricket. He will be very tough to replace.

Thanks for the memories Huss.
