Milking

This has been going on for years, and now since the Storm have got a couple everybody has a problem with it. Yes Slater may have milked it a little but it’s hardly the worst milking job there has been. But because he’s a Storm player everybody has to have their cry about it. The fact of the matter is, if the Knights player didn’t grab him then he doesn’t get binned.

By the way, I hate the milking of penalties but crying about Melbourne milking when every single team has done the exact same thing is ridiculous. But I guess that’s not really surprising on here is it

It’s not really the fact it’s the storm it’s the fact it’s Billy Slater.
If John Smth on his debut does it nobody really cares, when a decorated long term NRL, Origin and Roos player does it of course it’s a big deal.

Milking is part of the game and they call it for most things but then penalise the really obvious ones? I don't know if the refs are scared of being called inconsistent because they started penalising defending players laying 2 metres behind the ruck for having the ball thrown into their head but it's got to stop. It should just be play on. If that's a penalty then every time a dummy-half runs into an offside player's back it should be a penalty.

The Slater dives should be play-on but his attempt on playing the ball before the Fitzgibbon sin binning should have flat out been a penalty against him. No attempt to get to his feet whatsoever.

Ok I’ve heard this a few times now and the commentators where going on about it as well. But it’s completely wrong. Slater got to his feet. It’s clear as day. I don’t get why so many people are saying he made no attempt when he got to his feet. You people seriously need to watch the play again.

And also the Knights player grabbed Slater, why should that be play on? No matter how much contact he made, it’s a professional foul

We've got to start policing milking. Slater's effort to bin Fitzgibbon was only slightly less offensive than his effort on Lewis.

Levi's milking of a penalty from dummy half should have been play on.

Levi's effort from dummy half should have actually been a penalty the other way. Marker was held in the ruck by the tackling player.

Refs were awful in that game, massive missed call early second half when slater planted the ball then used it a leverage for a quick play the ball, refs started strong on that and it is so easy to police so should be consistent

He put the ball on the ground before he was in a position to play the ball and then threw himself to the ground. But you're right, he did get to one foot.

And no, the Knights player brushed Slater who then threw himself to the ground again.

It has not been going on for years. Not this blatantly at least!

And your anti-Slater conspiracy is way off, he's been one of my favourite players throughout his career and in the space of two weeks has gone to being one of my least favourites. Perhaps I'm taking ita bit harder than most because I respected him as a player and now have literally lost all respect for him.

The Knights player actually sees Slater make the tap and he sets himself and grabs his shoulder. Yes Slater milked it for all it’s worth but you can’t deny that the Knights player grabbed Slater. The video proves it

It has been going on for years. Michael Ennis was the king of milking (Someone needs to post that gif of Ennis faking being hit). How many times have we seen players dive for an obstruction penalty, how many times have we seen players that have been tackled hold onto the tackler (Woods does this so so much), how many times have we seen the dummy half throw the ball intentionally into an opposition player offside. It’s been happening for years, it hasn’t just all of a sudden started.

And also the anti-Slater thing wasn’t directed at you.

Fitzgibbon made contact, in fact he INITIATED contact, from an offside position, in a try scoring position...
Sure Slater milked it but he can only milk it if the offside player tries to stop him. If the offside Fitzgibbon keeps his hands to himself, Slater cant milk anything.

Simple answer is RL players need to retrain themselves to not grab at the player in that position.

This is akin to commentators bitching about the penalty crack down. The refs shouldnt stop enforcing the rules, the players and teams should adapt and start playing within the rules.

Slater isnt the only one going to do this, every coach will instruct their players to go down like they've been shot if an offside player initiates contact in this circumstance, and so they should. The player is offside, if he involves himself in the play, he should be sent to the bin. Simple.

I want to know how you could respect him with his karate kicks taking bombs and kicking recklessly while trying to prevent tries.

'Milking' is an understatement. Twice in three weeks he has flat out taken a dive!

Is this what the NRL wants it's product to become? Players dropping at the thought of contact like they're playing soccer or AFL?

Milf was at it today stepping forward from dh to pass into a player on the ground. Stupid interpretation.
