suppsoed to be back by next week. but if he does retire in the near future due to his back, it will be one of the most cutting moments ever for me as a roosters fan

Next week hey ?? Hope he comes back strong and plays atleast this season out. Roosters are looking good this season, and with Minichiello on board this could be the year.

Mini has been advised by coaching staff and specialists to retire, he is a stubborn prick and wants to give it another shot(his 4th comeback)

He should heed the advice and give it away otherwise it could be a permanent problem next time

Has he really been advised to retire?:( Sad day for Roosters if he retires this early.
However on the bright side it will free up plenty of cap space anyway, Roberts is playing really well, and Foley is a decent future replacement.

Yer mate looks great, saw him vs Knights in NYC, he has a huge step and plenty of attacking flare.

Tell Mini to retire or go to Souths on $ 400,000 per year over 3 years. Take up 10% of there cap and play about 10 games. Everyone Happy, although I would like to see him be a rooster for life.

Minichiello if one of my favourite fullbacks ever, i'll never forget Origin 3 in 2005, we had about 6 sets in a row to defend the beginning of the match, then Lockyer put in a kick and Minichiello sprinted 80m and that was an early match turner for us.

Hope he comes back and all goes well, would hate to see him go on the sidelines for a long time again.

I just remember his game against Newcastle in 2002, semi-final, at 6-all, Sean Rudder running to the line and Minichiello tackling him just short, then Fitzy's amazing 90 metre intercept try, followed by a Minichiello special where he left the Knights in his wake. He can make special moments happen, best wishes to him for his health.

ANTHONY MINICHIELLO is expected to make his comeback next round against Wests Tigers.

The former Test fullback has been sidelined for seven weeks with a back injury but returned to training last week. Roosters doctor John Orchard is confident Minichiello is on the verge of an NRL return.

Minichiello had hoped to return for round nine against Canberra before suffering a scare at training when his back flared as soon as he started running.

The former Golden Boot winner, previously an automatic selection for NSW and Australia, has undergone two operations on bulging discs since 2006.

Meanwhile, the New Zealand Warriors will target in-form five-eighth Braith Anasta in today's clash in Auckland. Left out of NSW's State of Origin side, Anasta answered selectors with a man-of-the-match display against Parramatta last weekend.

He scored twice in the commanding 32-12 win, showing his ability to step with his first four-pointer, and had a hand in two other tries.

"Certainly, he's one of our main targets," said Warriors skipper Michael Luck.

The Warriors are 4-0 at home.

What we need is Mini's ability to pop up and hit holes off short passes/offloads. We aren't getting that enough.
