I work with the father of a current first grade player at Moanly and when I told him that Fresh signed with Wigan, he looked at me with an asotonished expresion because he was told he was all but signed with Moanly!!!

I have no doub't that's true because he's son told him not to tell anyone!! including me!!! ;-)

How goods that??????

anyway baring any further signings it looks like a Tahu/Burt combo with Smith/ O'Dwyer as back ups!!

But why did u have to mention Burt in the same sentence as Tahu. Burt at best is a Winger and Nothing else.

The 3/4 for next year will be Tahu and Ben Smith with Odwyer really putting pressure on them. To be a 3/4 u need abit of strength, Burt has none. Saying that I dont mind him being on the Wing.

I'm simply going by current form, I'm not big on making bold predictions on whether O'Dwyer and Smith are ready to be permanent first grade players, not even from March next year Burt carries about 90 first grade games with him, so I'll stick with him at the moment!!

I agree with Jake.
Burt is at best a winger........and nothing else.
What has he done in the past month (besides fall on three bombs) that makes you think he is so special Fishy?
He is just another player that Smith is playing out of position.

I think he has played alright the last three or four weeks suity and how shown that he 'could' make a decent centre. IE...when he had some space against the roosters, out a fend on Cross and sent peterson over. Not saying centre is his best position, but only that he hasn't let us down, and given our slimpickings for centres this year I'm happy to see him there.

So you agree with Suity that he isn't a centre.

Tahu can play centres and wing, he has risen to play well at rep level, and can adjust better. Burty is a winger who can fill in at fullback and centre. But you don't want to start the season with Burt has your first choice No.4.

So would I.

I just think he has done alright recently, and gets knocked a bit around here. I'd much rather see Langi disappear from the centres combination this year than burtie.

One the wing, I think Burt has gone the potential to score 15+ tries a year, and looking ahead to next year, if Tahu is playing in the centres, I'd could live with burt partnering him, but would rather see O'Dwyer or Ben Smith there.

Agreed totally.

Of Burts 15 tries, he will need all of them set up for him. He can't make tries on his own.

Burt has done well in the centres lately, however he should definately not be our first choice centre and for me I would rather see him on the wing with someone stronger and creative in the 3/4 line. I hope we are going to look for a replacement for Vaealiki. Smith and O'Dwyer are good players, but I don't think either of them has earned the right to a starting position for next season.

THe Suck thing is that what if he doesn't do well in his first year or gets homesick (although for $500K, I wouldn't get homesicK) and comes back to the NRL and MANLY signs him???
