Warrington to host European final
Warrington Wolves' Wilderspool Stadium has been selected to host the final of the inaugural European Nations Cup in November.
The six teams - England A, Russia and Wales, France, Ireland and Scotland - will divide into two groups and play a round-robin competition before the two group winners meet in the final on 16 November.
This year's tournament should be seen as an inaugural event upon which further progress can be built
RFL chief Richard Lewis
However, as the tournament takes place alongside Australia's Ashes tour, many of the top home nations players will be called up by Lions coach David Waite for the Great Britain side.
"This new tournament is an important element of the European Federation's plans to continue to develop the sport at international level," said RFL chief Richard Lewis.
"It is the intention of the Federation that the European Nations Cup is further enhanced in the coming seasons and this year's tournament should be seen as an inaugural event upon which further progress can be built."
The tournament is being hosted and organised by the RFL on behalf of the Rugby League European Federation.
