Already given their marching orders are Josh Hannay, Brett Seymour, Michael Greenfield.
Ben Ross told he can go, Dykes deal up in the air and Noddy not being offered a contract.
Whispers that Paul Stephenson and Craig Stapleton are the next in line.
Some player signings are very very close.

Interesting.

I don't mind Sticks removing deadwood, but with the Dykes deal up in the air, Seymour and Noddy gone, Sticks must have fuggen big wraps on some halves he either plans to develop or buy.

I suppose Ross can go if he came find someone to pickup his contract which is unlikely. Stapler has been going alright, why doesn't Sticky rate him?

I read somewhere that Ricky isnt a fan of big, boofy, slow*ss players. I think thats why he likes Gallen, Bird & Thomo... and probably the reason why they have come leaps and bounds this year.

Further south, three Sharks players greeted the dawn as free agents.

Former Queensland Origin centre Josh Hannay, ex-Brisbane halfback Brett Seymour and prop Michael Greenfield were all told to look elsewhere, despite being contracted to play at Toyota Park until the end of 2008.

Of yesterday's decision to grant Hannay, Seymour and Greenfield permission to look elsewhere, Sharks chief executive Greg Pierce said: "They were told today that (coach) Ricky (Stuart) does not see them as part of his plans going forward.

"They are still at the club, but we've given them permission to go elsewhere if they can.

"They might not go anywhere ... but we've got to be fair to them and tell them where we stand."

Wonder how much of the cap that would free up, about 350k?

I would think it would free up a fair bit Inferno! Do you think they might be freeing up some cash for Noddy?

Just what you need (disgruntled players) to destabilise the club, when they are on a bit of a roll.

I'm loving this. Cleaning out the cobwebs of the Raper regime. It will take a while, for example with Ben Ross, he's probably likely to sit out his contract that other clubs may struggle to match. But onya Ricky, get rid of the deadwood!

Stapleton has been going alright. Not fantastic. Panthers fans thought he was one of their best last year but we certainly can't say that this year. Maybe Ricky is trying to raise the bar, lift to higher standards. I fully welcome the bar raising.

f**k it's frustrating waiting for signings news though...

can anyone explain to me and others who are confused.

What is the point of signing a contract if the club can just release you?
Don't they have to pay you out therefore nullifying this salary cap free up talk?

I have never read a 1st graders contract so I wouldn't have a clue what is in the fine print re performance.

That could very well be the case actually. I hadn't even thought of that.

What has been the deal with Stapler this year, he was the Panthers best forward last year, and while he's been good for us, he is nowhere near the form he was in last year. Maybe he needs to go back to driving trains or something part time.

Inferno the reason I thought they might want to free up some cash for Noddy was, Dykes still hasn't signed! and if Soward was in Rickys sights he's gone now as well. I don't think there would a large number of quality halfs out there at the moment.

This season aye, interesting. Would be hard to do without releasing someone though mid season wouldn't it?

Frenzy.

It's not about who is going well though. It's about Ricky getting horses for courses. He inherited a makeshift side, obviously full of troops which don't suit what he wants to do.

He wants specific types and styles of players for specific roles.

We all knew and whinged about Raper and the club's lack of drawing power and the quality of those that was recruited. Well Sticky is aiming a bit higher.
