Somehow you have to feel a bit for Morts, signs for the Chooks and in a few weeks they go and sign Maloney to replace Anasta at 5/8 and comment he is there to partner Pearce in the halves for 2012 and beyond

Could be a long couple of years for the bloke

THE Sydney Roosters have beaten off six other clubs to sign red-hot Warriors playmaker James Maloney on a three-year-deal. The Warriors five-eighth will join the Roosters in 2013, meaning the club will now have Mitchell Pearce, captain Braith Anasta, Daniel Mortimer and Maloney on their books in 2013.

A standout performer in 2011, the 25-year-old former Melbourne Storm understudy to Cooper Cronk, was one of the hottest commodities on the open market after helping the Warriors into this year's grand final.

Sydney Roosters recruitment manager Peter O'Sullivan said he believes Maloney will become an even better player at the Roosters.

"2011 was a breakthrough year for James and we see him taking his game to the next level at the Roosters, forming a strong long-term partnership in the halves with Mitchell Pearce, " he said.

Coach Brian Smith added: "James has a style of play that will complement the Roosters and has a high goal kicking percentage as well.

"He will be in his prime across the seasons he has signed with us and we look forward to welcoming James to the Roosters in 2013."

The move means Anasta will have to move back to the second-row. Anasta was extremely frustrated at being moved to lock at the beginning of the 2011 season to the point that he was linked with a move to the Cowboys before signing a two-year contract extension this season.

Surprised that News Ltd did not call him "eels reject".

Anyway, good luck to him.

Do I feel sorry for Morts ? As much as any other bloke on the street that isn't good enough to play NRL. So, not really.

I don't feel for him at all. He's still going to be earning a couple of hundred grand next year to play reserve grade, and probably a decent income for 2013 too for doing the same. Not a bad life.

Morts has it all in his own hands, he plays well enough they will have to fit him in somewhere. Hell if he played well enough he'd still be at Parra.

Funny, I was thinking the other day that Morts is a poor man's James Maloney. They certainly play the same style.

This.

I'm always amazed at how some footy fans can feel pity for the guys who don't have magical fairytale careers.

I was shit at footy too! Why doesn't anyone feel sorry for me?

If only coach had put me in in the fourth quarter. I would've found the back of the net.
What the f**k happened? I spend all this time stalking you and thinking up witty lines and you go and change what you posted?

It was going to be a great line! It was going to talk about all the board haters and fascists and Hadley and communists and some more about Raider Pete. And I would of laughed at it and other posters would have laughed at it. It would have united LU under a single goal, made Parra's front office the envy of every sports club in the universe, the onfield performances would have grown out of sight, Saints 11 in a row would have been a forgotten memory (even by Stains fans) and we'd all still be laughing.

But you ruined it! You've let the Fitzy and Ando lovers win! The board is going to crumble now thanks to you!

You're worse than Ossie...

And Spags...
