Cronulla have impressively now racked up three games in a row with zero points with Daniel Holdsworth and Blake Ayshford leading the way.

Is this a new record or has there been other instances of three or more games in a row in the past?

Discuss.

Warren Smith reckoned it was the first time someone has been done 3 in a row to blot.

Also during the tv coverage they said it was the first time that a team has been held scoreless three times in one season.

Although David Middleton says otherwise.

to be fair they went extremely close tonight. but yeah 3 games scoring no points is not a great record.

they should take 2 at some stage.

Three consecutive times.

I know they said that but trust me, Greg Alexander or Warren Smith also stated that no team had been held scoreless three times in one season.

Even the following article incorrectly states three times in one season.

HAPLESS Cronulla haven?t scored a point in 270 minutes ? or four-and-a-half hours ? of football.
It is the longest scoreless streak ever, with no team losing three games to nil in one season, let alone consecutively.

Thankfully though David Middleton knows what he is talking about.

Anymore fun facts about the Sharks at the moment? I don't mind the Sharks and I am a huge fan of a few of their players (namely Lewis and Gordon). But can't help but love seeing all these fun facts floating around to give shit to a few of my Sharks supporter mates.

The two byes so close together kind of makes things look worse from a last points scored perspective. But 3 in a row to nil is pretty shocking by any standards.

Wests failed to trouble the scorers 3 times in 1989.

The not so mighty Panthers lost 30-0 twice running a couple of years ago.

Don't know of any side getting the big egg 3 games running before, that doesn't mean its never happened though.

Oh, one other thing. This is the 4th time this season the Sharks have failed to trouble the scorer. They lost 30-0 to Newcastle in Round 4.

Actually the Knights beat them to nil as well which makes a total of four so far.
And if the Knights can put 30 to zip on you then you know you must be going shit

Record for nil scores in a season (Source: David Middleton)

Annandale 4 1920;
Parramatta 4 1974;
Newtown 4 1982;
Norths 4 1989;
Sharks 4* 2014

Norths only avoided it happening a 5th time in 1989 by kicking a field goal against the Knights in the second last round of the year (they lost the match 14-1)

Would be interesting to know at what stage of the gme the fg was kicked....Im guessing it was solely to avoid the record books

Back in the 80's there were some players who didn't mind taking the field goal option at various times during a match.

Benny Elias when playing for Balmain used to have a habit of kicking field goals very early in matches.

Neil Baker kicked 20 field goals in a season for Souths back in 1986.

Just checked and the Bears also lost to Penrith 31-2 that season.

Amazingly though, despite this they didn't finish last that season.

Illawarra finished last with only 2 wins all season.......yet were not held scoreless once.
