TIM MOLTZEN OUT FOR SEASON

13/04/2010 10:21:15 AM

Wests Tigers has confirmed today talented half-back Tim Moltzen will miss the rest of the season with a knee injury.
Moltzen underwent MRI scans on Monday which confirmed the post match diagnosis of a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee suffered against the Cowboys in Townsville on Saturday night.
He will undergo a knee reconstruction next week. Moltzen had been in fine form and his loss is a major blow to the Wests Tigers.
Coach Tim Sheens will today decide on a new half-back for the match against the Bulldogs at the Sydney Football Stadium on Friday, April 16. Robert Lui, who started the season at half-back, is not expected back until round eight.
Meanwhile, MRI scans have revealed a grade one calf strain for prop Todd Payten. He is likely to miss two matches.

Again, as stated in the previous thread, it depends on the type of reconstruction he goes for. Traditional, its the season. Synthetic graft, he could be back in training in 6 weeks and playing in 12 or so

time will tell

Injured Wests Tigers utility Tim Moltzen has opted against radical knee surgery which could have seen him back on the paddock before season's end.
Moltzen suffered a rupture anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee in the win over North Queensland on Saturday night.
The 21-year-old admits he strongly considered following Cronulla winger Luke Covell's lead after the Sharks veteran underwent the controversial ligament augmentation and reconstructive system (LARS) operation last week.

Best to get the traditional reco. Moltz is 21 with a whole career ahead of him. Covell knows he can't afford 12 months off or he is on the scrapheap so he is taking a gamble.

A loss for us but he have some options. I mean Sheens did start the season with Lui at 7 so i would like to think our season is far from down the drain.
