Let's just be clear. There are two lines of thought here. Mine which says that Robbie and Benji were overpaid because we had salary cap problems and we had an unsuccessful period. The counter argument is that they weren't overpaid and it is recruitment and coaching that was the problem.

I think you mean plenty enough to pay others but you don't have any facts to back this up but my opinion is backed up because of the results that we've had.

I think logically it is therefore more likely that my opinion is correct.

Sure there were other factors involved. Some of those factors may have been significant. At the end of the day though you don't have any facts at all to back up your opinion and it seems that you are letting off the two highest paid players in the club completely when it comes to the clubs poor performance.

I am basically over this debate though. You are entitled to your belief and I'm entitled to mine. If you have some facts or logic that actually works please provide that but so far any counter argument has been pretty poor.

Christ you have just contradicted yourself in consecutive posts. You don't have any proof they were overpaid and the unsuccessful period supports the view that the shit recruitment and retention was the cause just as much as your view. So no, there is no logical reason you are correct.

If that is what you truly think then fair enough. But if you continually post the same opinion in every thread then other will continually call it out.

He contradicts himself all the time.

How many times I read a post where he is castigating a player then goes on to say they are a great player.

Enough splinters in his arse to build a fence out of.

They were top tier players in a struggling side being paid less than their equally talented contemporaries. You want overpaid, look at the million dollar man Ash Taylor.

Weve always struggled to sign players. Even right after our premiership.

The players knew the place was a dive and obviously they spoke. Same way I know which of my competitors I would work for and which ones I wouldn't.

Taking that to the next level you HAVE to spend a certain percentage of the salary cap. So if we can only sign who we can sign, they are all naturally going to be overpaid. The 30 most expensive players at your club must add up to whatever the cap is or within 95% of it I think.

Every player at the club was thus overpaid.

05, I think why everyone is on your back (literally everyone) is that you are signalling out two players specifically. Heino was reportedly on $300k thats also overpaid.

Our top two players that we built around.
I am not sure we built much of anything around anyone, if you look at who we had/have.
I think we need to look at the coaches since these two came onto the scene.
Look at what Hassler is doing at Manly, Bellamy does at the Storm, what Bennett is doing at Souths, a good coach makes a difference.
However, ATM we are not doing to badly, hopefully Madge can entice a few to compliment the team next year.

Our top two players that we built around.
We didnt build around them. The club got over excited in 05 and claimed they had the squad to dominate for years. ALL of the young ones in that side got payraises that pushed them into overpaid territory. Most of them ended up slightly above average on great money. Rob and Benj werent earning million dollar salaries forcing others out or leaving the club unable to sign marque talent. They were paid well according to their market values...both GF winners, both internationals, one played plenty of origin and narrowly missed Dally M player of the year twice whilst the other won the golden boot and brought tens of thousands of new fans to the club. If they were in certain other clubs they could have earned substantially more.

The answer to why this club lacks success is complex and involves almost all stakeholders ever involved with the organisation, from sponsors to front of house, from coaching staff/trainers to the playing group each year. Our club is unprofessionally run, always airs dirty laundry, lacks professional facilities and has no true home ground. Whilst these two have played their part in our fortunes and lack thereof, they have had many, many hundreds of helpers.
