Not even kidding.

On March 15, Windows Live Messenger (formerly MSN) will be shut down and all users asked to move themselves across to Skype.

I remember back in the day when MSN was popular and you'd get emails like this saying "click X or MSN will be shut down".

But yeah noone uses MSN anymore. Facebook, Skype and other platforms do everything MSN did and more while having the most important thing, more users.

will the chat you can do through your hotmail inbox disappear as well? That's an msn thing

I remember our major assessment in Computers in Year 10. My mate made an instant messaging, exactly like MSN. Great times this thing gave us!

The base messaging service will always exist. Access to the Windows Live Messenger program is what will cease.

Hotmail itself is all migrating to Outlook.com anyway.

havent used it in about 8 years tbh. Have started using Skype chat the last 12 months, seems to work just fine.

ICQ was the best though. setting up phony accounts to try and goad people into saying stupid stuff was the no.1 prank back in the day

Have not been on MSN in about three years, only reason I used it was to talk about assignments, exams and such. I was never that fond of it.

Either way, this is interesting. As stated above I remember the eMails about MSN shutting down or becoming paid. I knew it would happen so it was simply a matter of when.

Haven't used MSN in years now, which is a shame because it was much better than Facebook chat. Had some awesome conversations over the years on MSN though, still have chat logs saved back to 2008.

Oh man, so many hours wasted on MSN. It's insane how long I spent on that piece of software when it eclipsed Yahoo Messenger as my #1 social outlet in late high school.

Hard to believe how often I was on it back in the day. Now, I don't even chat at all. I occasionally log onto Skype, but who needs to chat when you've got FB?

I used to loathe those. Some bastard would invite rape me and I'd have to leave the conversation, only to have them re-invite me!

Meh, Facebook chats works just as well, without the humiliation of the email being one I made when I was 12..

Ooh, what is it?

For the first few years after college, I persisted with my high school chosen Inches_72 handle

hotmail aliases have made the embarrassing nature of my original account name irrelevant
