BRISBANE Broncos coach Wayne Bennett has been urged to reconsider his decision to dump Justin Hodges by the player's mother.
Bennett has banished Hodges to the NRL premiers' feeder club Toowoomba for the rest of the season following his decision to sign a three-year contract with the Sydney Roosters for 2002-2004. But the teenage fullback's mother Cheryl Hodges said today the Broncos have lost three games in a row since her son was axed and some of his team-mates are unhappy about the sacking. "Wayne talks about loyalty, well I think if the players are asking for Justin to come back, then he should consider their opinions," Mrs Hodges said in a letter to the Courier Mail. "Wayne should put his own feelings aside and do what is best for the players, because if they're not happy how can he expect them to perform to their fullest?" Bennett, however, told the newspaper he would not be changing his stance on Hodges.
