This is one that got away in my opinion. The Knights Have apointed Graham Murray as head of their high performance unit. His knowledge and experence would have been invaluable to all coaching staff and players at the Eels. Not only a succesful coach but a genuinely nice bloke that players respect, he would have helped our juniors progress to the required level. And he was an Eels player of some caliber.

Tinkler is happy to pay for results. He signed Peter Mulholland as well.

Peter Mulholland is no way as good as Peter Nolan.

Thank God his stuck with us Because from all reports he knocked back an offer from the knights before Mulholland was offerd one. He also has knocked back an offer from Brisbane to go back home. He wants the Parramatta Eels to be very Successful.

I think we could do with a coaching manager or HPU or whatever they want to call it like a Murray at the Knights or Gould at the Panthers to mentor SK a bit while he's learning.

I know a former premiership winning coach who needs work.

I think hagan would be perfect for the job but I don't see him returning to parra, who else is there? Shaun McRae would be awesome but he's football director at hull. It wouldn't happen anyway because Kearney said when he signed with our club he wanted full control,
So maybe if things don't work out, one of our assistance can step up and we can put something like that in place.

It's not about taking over control though. It's more about overseeing the entire coaching systems from SG Ball to First Grade. This just takes pressure off Stephen Kearney really, as it allows him to focus more on his actual job, head coach of first grade. I don't know if it's something our club is considering, but I think it's a good initiative by Penrith and Newcastle in what is a transition phase just like us.

How many coaches do they want? Bennett, Rick Stone, Murray,...the playing group aren't exactly unskilled workers..throw in conditioners, trainers, wrestling coaches, dieticians, stat keepers.....
Tinkler...is he one complaining about the mining tax????

Is this not the job of the Academy and therefore the coaching director of said Academy?
Underestimate the Academy at your peril.

And that is? If you don't know his name, or if that position is yet to be filled then this should be open to discussion. We could be talking about the same person.

Stand down, Fella. I was part of the discussion not knocking it.

No. I do not know who he is. I highly doubt it would be anyone with a coaching profile though, especially not a guy with 1st grade coaching experience. Unless you settle for a guy like Langmack. What is Arthur Kinitsas (sp?) doing?

Newcastle have FOUR coaches (at least) on its staff who have coached FIRST GRADE at ARL/NRL level - Bennett, Stone, Murray, Mulholland....and the joint is stacked with plenty of experience - Harrigan, Gidley on the board...How much experience and tuition will the Club need, taking into consideration the quality of its playing roster - Gidley, Costigan, Buderus, Tahu, Mullen, Uate, Boyd, Cutherbertson...Talk about over capitalising its coaching squad. Heading for a clash of egos I predict...

Why is there always a whinger when someone signs with a club that isn't the Eels?

(a) it's not like we magically get first dibs on any player/coach we want anyway

(b) half the people being whinged about are, in actual fact, craptastic.

Case in point: Murray. Sure the bloke has some strengths, but club development isn't one of them.

In what world is Gidley quality?

Matt Gidley is quality in ANY world. His brother (Kurt) is not bad either...if you don't think so, you need to get the blinkers off...but you are entitled to your opinion, irrespective of how stupid it may be.
