Im not denying that, what i said was that Metalica are more in the Van Halen mould which is very true, i don't hate Metallica actually i use to be a massive fan & could play all there stuff on guitar but? if the argument is about who was more popular in the late 80's early 90's then there isn't an argument as Gunners where by far & away the biggest band in the world at the time.

You remember how big they where, Metallica have atleast been consistently big which Gunners have failed to do thanks to infighting & Axl's probelms.

I wouldn't deny GNR'S popularity!. I remember in high school in the early 90's in Blacktown, how so many ppl were into their music. They were famous alright, but doesn't Axl's voice get irritating?. Im not saying that a singer has to be like Bruce Dickenson who could probably sing opera, but axl's voice annoys me a bit. Also i hate when bands try and show that bad boy image where in every picture they held a jack daniels bottle with a cigarette hanging out of the mouth and all tattooed. No wonder they were popular in Blacktown.

Yeah early 90's where awesome, so many great bands & concerts even though i was young at the time having a big sister who was a rock promoter at the time there was always parties & great music when the parents weren't home....and dare i say many nice ladies 8)

Axl's voice is great i feel, extremely distictive which is always a sign of a great artist no matter if it's a singer, guitarist or drummer...if you can recongise there sound from the first note of the song then you know they have gift.

But Gunners where bad boy's!!, Axl was a prick!, how many times on tv did i see riots at a Gunners concert caused by him, and plus the way he hated women & alcohol problems, the Jack Daniel's bottle photo is a classic....i wish i still had mine. :(

yeah the early 90's was the best. I always look at 1991 as the turning point for good music!.

1991

Metallica - Black Album
Red Hot Chilli Peppers - Blood sugar sex majic
Nirvana - Nevermind
Pearl Jam - Ten

Alice in Chains and Soundgarden were going OK aswell. The whole seattle grunge thing started to happen.

No before the 90's there was already good music in Ratt, Poison, Skidrow, Dokken, Motely Crue, LA GUNS, Def Leopard....wow so many great bands.

After 91 the best bands imo was Stone Temple Pilot's, Soundgarden, Def FX, Stone Roses & Nirvana....the Seattle thing was good but the characters out of rock wen't together with the hair.

Skid Row? What do you think of em Ron?

Didn't mind them at all!!, i always liked Sabastian Bach's voice!, like other 80's hair bands they have really struggled in the 90's & like Poison, Ratt, La Guns they are touring quiet often around America in a Bus these days.

Bach's voice was pretty damn good!...too bad about the whole ego thing.......within about 1hr i was a fan of these guys...18 and Life, Quicksand Jesus, Youth Gone Wild, I Remember You, In a Darkened Room, Psycho Love....the list goes on......i was pretty unhappy that i couldnt get Slave to the Grind, so i settled for 40 Seasons....the best of instead....and i gotta say.......it was probably a good thing.....Forever and Fire in the Hole are gggggreat tracks

Bach is typical of lead singers from back in the day....amazing talent....but an even more amazing ego...someone actually said that they put on a BETTER show that GNR did in '88...Agree?

Speaking of stuff talked about in this thread.....i'm listening to some of the Axl N Roses stuff...the not so New-GNR stuff from a few years back......Madagascar and Crash Diet are some KILLER SONGS!.....not your typical GNR - but Axl has always said he doesn't want to do another Appettite style GNR thing.........Crash Diet is Axl back at his usual vocal brilliance.......Chinese Democracy mightn't ever come out.....but hey, as long as they put out stuff like this every few years then i'm happy......even if they are crappy bootlegged songs.....heard any of it?
