i told everyone on here that Racing To Win was in for a great autumn and would be the horse to follow in the spring

i jumped off RTW last start and backed Paratroopers. well we know what happens

and then i'm decided on backing Mnemosyne yesterday morning until i think "bossy on racing to win, i said it's in for a great future, i'll back him" i'm on track and $4.40 pops up so i decide to back Mnemosyne ](*,)

RTW is even in my blackbook. but i still didn't back it

absolutley livid with myself while my girlfriend is cheering as she took my "tip" and backed RTW. and when she's calling me stupid, i know i've done something very wrong

I get that (called stupid) from the mrs each time I rip into an apprentice after backing one.

"Thought you said you'd never back an apprentice again..." she says!

Just on the $4.40 that opened up, it was in the paper this morning that an 83year old blind fella put 100k on RTW early in the day.

They were sus if he had the money, but he produced it all in a blue bag. All on the nose he says...

Why didn't he go to a bookie? Surely they'd have let him on for 100k at 6-8/1...

yeah the bookies also opened up at $4 due to volume of TAB money (they were worried a massive sting was going to take place) and then it went right out to $5.50 at one stage before coming in to start at $4.40 i think

my girlfriend got the $4.60. my mates got the $5

i got the 8's and 25's for Mnemosyne and Ike's Dream (very small e/w bet)

and on that backing apprentices thing, macca -

i have never liked backing timmy clark. he murdered one of my horses and i've been put off since. i was lucky enough to meet him late yesterday/last night in the members area. he's an absolute champion. spoke well about his goals for the carnival, and was still smiling just for riding in the doncaster

so i guess i've changed my mind about apprentices. they still ride winners. so i'll start backing the best horse, even if they do have a T.Clark or a T.Pannell etc on them

also spoke to mark guest a bit about melbourne racing. great bloke

great story!

it took them 15 minutes to count the money because he 'had a lot of small notes'.

bet the mattress was looking a bit saggy after he took all the cash out from under it yesterday morning.

plus they said he couldn't see or hear the race due to the crowd at the track so he didn't know that he had won until a few minutes after the race.

i love it!

Well this is my theory too (ie bacing the best horse) but I still find myself yelling at the bloke with the little (a) next to his name

What they take off in weight, they add back on with lack of experience and abilitly.

Granted some are a lot better than others and do get a few home.

i've found myself yelling abuse at jockeys full stop.

of course, it has nothing to do with my tips

So why didn't you come say hello yesterday Nuffs..............
I would of been able to give you overs.
I gave a mate 15 instead of 11 on KakaKatie.
Won him an extra $80 and the bastard still didn't buy me a drink after the last.

hahaha sorry mate i had dramas from the moment i was walking to the course

once in there, we went upstairs and stayed there most of the day. then we went into the mounting yard for the last couple of races

i was last seen drinking in the owners and trainers bar drowning my sorrows

are you working this saturday? we've got 40 people going in to the public area and then into the city afterwards. it's going to be massive. i'm glad my girlfriend got paid her redundancy payout  i'm broke after the weekend

and i only had 2 winners: $20 on Backdraft at $3.40 (and i knew the bookie clerk chick yet she still didn't get me better odds) and i had a $50 on the tote on Above Deck. i should have come down to you then. it was paying $2.50 at the bookies when a Eagle Farm race started, and at the end of that 1200m race, Above Deck was into $2.30. i ended up getting $2.20 on the tote :x

I loved what he said after the race:

Interviewer "So what are you going to do now?"

Old Bloke "Go home and have a Mogadon and a lie down"
