Just a quickie, I have been asked to play in the AFL Fantasy comp @ work with a few Victorian expats. Knowing next to nothing about the game, they have already been giving it to me deluxe. I'm asking for week to week assistance/management/ideas of my team to be at least competitive.

Mitch Clark injured.
I wouldn't touch Naitanui either.
Get rid of Buddy. No Goodes and Tippett means he'll be marked heavily.
Cotchin > Watson
Luke McDonald > Toovey
Fasolo might not play round 1.
Too much money invested in your rucks.
Hickey has looked better than Longer.



Keep an eye on teams being announced Thursday arvo. You don't want anyone in your team who isn't playing round 1.

Is Ablett as (c) a must?

You'll want Ablett in your team eventually. Starting with him isn't necessary. If he has a slow start to the season you'll be able to get him at a discount later on but you'll want him in your side at some stage. I've got him in my team. The problem you have is without Ablett you'll need a D. Swan or S. Pendlebury as a heavy hitting captain option each week. You pay more but they pump out higher scores and are generally more consistent than captaining a J. Selwood or J. Watson.

You've got way too much money sitting on your bench. Bench spots are exclusively used for rookie priced players (115K - 175K) that are getting game time. Once they've maxed out in price you'll downgrade them with another rookie priced player who has just starting getting game time and use the spare funds to upgrade your mid-price players to a premium.

However, this season there is unlimited trades until round 2. My team is structured so all my bench players are worth $115,200 for this week only. That means I have more money to spend on the players on my field. Because there are unlimited trades until round 2 I can completely revamp my team next week so I have players that are actually getting game time (and are slightly more expensive) on my bench.

The biggest sin is having players on your bench getting 0's every week and not generating money for you to upgrade. Not a concern this week but something that must be factored in for round 2 onwards.

Players I feel are locks who you simply can't go without are: S. Mitchell, M. Suckling, D. Thomas, A. Sandilands, J. Caddy, D. Beams, G. Rohan. Try and fit them in somehow.

I'd also suggest the following:

M. Clark, C. Beams are injured and have to be replaced.
Get rid of J. Aish and D. Sheed replace them with rookies like D. Tyson and V. Michie
M. Crouch > X. Ellis will also free up money to get an Ablett or Swan in your team.

Those are the notable problems I can see in your team. There are other players you've picked I would never touch. It depends how much you want to be spoonfed though. Any other questions let me know.
