Names

I have had a bit of time on my hands lately and have noticed our backs tend to have short names and our forwards tend to have longer names.

If you don't believe me just look at our backs:

Burt
Hayne
Tahu
Smith
Reddy
Finch
Smith

Then have a look at our forwards:

Cayless
Hindmarsh
Hindmarsh
Cannings
Cordoba
Robinson

A few other points to note:

1. Fuifui Moimoi I believe changed his name from Fui Moi after receiving advice that his name was too short to play in the front row.

2. Petersen, McKinnon and Delaney could never fit into our backline with such long names.

3. Many fans criticised Smithy for playing Wagon at 5/8. But really he had no choice with such a short name.

4. I believe Inu and Lett will fit into the backline nicely.

This is an exciting announcement! I like your thinking, and i back your conclusion 100%. It also explains why we had to loose brett hodgson and andrew ryan!

and stretching that bow just a little further, middle length names can play as utilities in the forwards or the backs:

Wagon
O'Dwyer
Widders
Mateo

I guess that "Marsh" is then definitive proof that a modern day hooker is really a back in denial rather than a genuine forward.

That soccer player with the singular name FRED, would play the house down in the backs. Sign him up immediately.

Also I have been doing some more thinking overnight and have realised that Cayless is quite a short name for the forwards. This may explain why the 'c' had to be put next to hs name, to lengthen it to the requirements.
