Newcastle Knights coach, Nathan Brown, just racked up another loss. In the 2.5 seasons he has been with the club the only improvement has come off the back of signing Ponga and letting him run the show. 64 odd games coached for 12 wins is quite a deplorable record but he somehow seems to get a pass and is rarely if ever talked about as a coach under fire. His defensive schemes are woeful and haven't improved since his inception as coach while his attacking plays are 'pass to Ponga' and nothing else.

There have been a handful of coaches over the last couple of seasons who have been put under immense pressure to keep their jobs but not Brown. How does he still have a job and where do you rate him on the list of current coaches?

Knights were going alright til they lost Pearce. Even tonight they were going alright but once they lost Ponga and Griffin, it was always gunna be tough

Imagine how the Roosters would be going without Cronk, Tedesco, JWH, Napa, Friend and Mitchell. Their equivilents for us have all had long term injuries this year, and barely played together.

We will get there I think, but geez we keep finding ways to suck.

Except the Bulldogs just beat you effectively having half a salary cap when you account for the losses of Woods and Mbye, injuries to Josh Morris and Foran plus paying for Reynolds, Graham, Kasiano and a couple of others at other clubs

What do you mean except? I agree with you, we suck... but we'd be an 8-12 sucky team on the improve if injuries hadn't gutted us of any good players we do have.

Browny is doing ok. They had improved dramatically this year until injuries crippled them. They have a few more good recruits coming next year, if they still don’t improve by the end of next year Brown has to be punted.

Probably setting them up for a massive salary cap fail with all these buys

Yeah...how dare we go after first-grade players like Ramien and Lee. The audacity. We should know our place in the comp and keep blokes like Jack Cogger on a pie and coke contract. Because Paul Gallen said so.

Seeing where we came from under Wayne Bennett, Rick Stone and Mick muthaf*cking Hagan, Brown get a LOT of leeway with this club...

Jack Gibson would have struggled to do better with the shitsandwich Brown was handed when he started.

And the simple question is: If Brown is sacked, who replaces him? No decent coach would agree to this career suicide. At best, we end up with a rookie coach (and not even one of the good ones) who will just be sacked in 2 years for ANOTHER rookie.

TS is a troll. That being said I think questions should have to be asked of Brown.

Our defence has not improved since he arrived and to concede 30 plus points against that Canterbury side is a total embarrassment.

Some of his team selections have been terrible too. The fact that Jack Cogger is in FG and Lamb is in reserve grade is mind boggling. Our atrocious kicking game and total lack of direction over the last 3 or 4 games is Brown’s fault.

Brown has done a good job of getting rid of the dead wood and signing some good replacements, he does seem the right person to take the club forward in that regard. His actual coaching is really nothing to write home about.

Speaking of Barrett.
The eternal rookie gets the biggest free ride from the media of all the sht coaches.
Its mind boggling the wraps he has on him, given his actual results.
