Dallas Mavericks vs Miami Heat a somewhat dream final. Who will win and how many games?.

Miami in 7 is what I want. My head tells me Dallas in 6 though.
It's gonna be a great finals series.

Mavs in 6. Nobody on the Heats roster can guard Dirk (my tip: 32ppg, 13rpg). We have Shaq stoppers in Diop and Dampier (both defensive centres). Wade is a worry though, Harris and Terry are gonna need to be on their heels. Howard can mark up on anybody...

I think both sides will struggle to win away from home. Dallas in 6 or 7, but I'd probably go the seven if I was betting.

I think Miami are a roleplayer short of where they need to be.

Haslem will get the job to stick to Dirk. He can do it but easier said then done. Howard and Walker are keys for both teams as they need the extra scores. Whichever one can be a 20+ points a game scorer it will give their team a big boost.

Miami have two better scores in shaq and Wade but the Mavs have more scoring depth. 4 OT games and Mavs win from a game 7 OT victory. I have high hopes.

They beat the pistons on the road. BTW the Pistons only lost 4 home games all year untill the playoffs.

That is true, but the Pistons were exposed in the playoffs when they had to play a team 7 times over the space of 14 days or so.
In the regular season it is one game and then move on. In the playoffs it is all about making adjustments and the Pistons failed to do so.
Miami Dallas could be one of the great series of all times and i am expecting both teams to score 100 plus each game they play.

The cliche Defence wins championships is wrong. the best D fensive teams in the Pistons and Spurs are knocked out leaving the two of the three highest scoring teams in the final. 200+ points a game and heaps of OT games will make it a final to remember. :thumb

The "cliche" is not wrong. Defense does win titles 9/10 times. 2006 is just a one off.

What about the lakers 3 champioships on the back of offense by O'neal and Bryant. They weren't a good defensive team but their offense won 3 titles.

True, but they were not a bad D team.
Kobe has been All D team many times...Shaq was in his prime and clogged the middle.
Other teams over the past 10 yrs likes the Bulls/Spurs/Pistons were very very good D teams

In saying that do you think Phoenix will ever in a championship seeing as they have no interior defence? or a team like the Sonics?

D teams more often than not will prevail...but....if the suns can get a healthy team over the next 3 yrs then they have a great shot.
Sonics? More chance of the sharks winning the comp!

It is a bit like League. Over the yrs they said you needed a big pack to win the comp...then the Tigers did what they did in 2005.
But overall it is the big packs like the Dogs that would get the upperhand on the Tigers.
