Arenas is the most overrated player in the history of the NBA. I hope the NBA throw the book at him and he is suspended for the remainder of 2010.

It's wierd that a majority of Wizards fans will probably be wishing that he does get charged, purely so that they, as you said, can void his contract.

Whole incident has been really messed up. At first I lolled when I heard about it but now things are starting to get serious. Gilbert could potentially lose ALOT of money out of this.

I like Gilbert. I really like how open he was with his fans with his blogs, playing them on xbox live etc

But he is f**ked now

The right thing to do. the Wizards will do everything they can to try and void the rest of Gliberts $100 million. I still don't know what they were thinking signing him for that much and for so long with no none else going after him. Stoopid Wizards.

Arenas

WASHINGTON -- Washington Wizards guard Gilbert Arenas has been charged with a felony in connection with last month's locker room confrontation with a teammate.
Arenas, who was suspended indefinitely without pay by NBA commissioner David Stern last week, was charged with carrying a pistol without a license outside a home or business.
The charges were filed in D.C. Superior Court in an "information," a document that generally signals a plea deal.
The Washington Post reports If convicted, Arenas could face a maximum five years in jail and a fine.
His lawyer had no immediate comment.
Arenas, a three-time All-Star, had admitted to taking unloaded guns out of his locker in a "misguided effort to play a joke" on a teammate following a gambling dispute during a team flight.
Arenas has said he kept multiple guns in his locker at the Verizon Center. He claims he wanted to keep them away from his children and didn't know it was illegal.
The teammate involved in the spat, Javaris Crittenton, had authorities search his apartment for a semiautomatic handgun in connection with the incident on Thursday afternoon.
Information from the Associated Press was used in this report

Been reading that this apparently strengthens the Wizards case to be able to void his contract. What a god send that would be for the franchise.

All Wizards fans are worrying about at this point is what this means to there chances of voiding his contract.

I was going to say that he has/had the worst contract in the league, but then I remembered the 6-year/110 million dollar monstrocity that Orlando blew on Rashard Lewis. Now there's a contract the Magic wouldn't mind voiding!

A contract given to a valuable piece that enabled them to make the Finals last year and gives opponents match up problems just about every night is the worst contract in the league? :?

What about the guaranteed 5 year contract given to the most volatile player in NBA history? Or the most untradable contract currently in the NBA (Dalembert)? Or K-Mart? Or Randolph?

Arenas' contract will almost certainly be voided now, the union can fight it but they won't win. He'll probably get another contract somewhere else though at some point, which is good. If the NFL took back Vick I can't see Arenas not getting back in the NBA.

Dalembert is owed $11.36 million this season and $12.2 million next year

Kenyon Martin is owed $15.36 million this season and $16.54 million next year

Zach Randolph is owed $16 million this season and $17.33 million next year.

On the other hand

Rashard Lewis is owed $18.87 million this season, $20.5 million next year, $22.1 million in 2011/2012 and $23.8 million in 2012/2013.

FFS a guy who shoots 3s is going to be earning over $20 million per year for the next 4 YEARS. Why in effing hell did Orlando have to give him so much money. The guy was going to leave Seattle regardless because he didn't want to be part of a rebuilding process. If the Magic had offered him $12 million per year, was anyone going to pay over that? Did any other teams even seriously covet Lewis at the time?

Sure Arenas contract is horrible but if you gave me the choice of having to pay either Arenas or Rashard franchise money, I know who I'd pick. FFS the guy is earning Kobe money.

On the voiding part, since he has pled guilty to a felony charge, Wizards can make a convincing case to have his contract voided. Sad to think that he's going to loss so much money due to some childish incident.

Thank god the NBA (stern) suspended this chump for the remainder of the season. I hope no team touches him and he is made to play in the minor leagues

Yeah not too big a surprise with Arenas. I was a bit surprised that Crittenton was banned as well. Now the question is are the Wizards a able to void his contract or do they just trade him. I've read that a buy-out is the most likely alternative.
