Negatives from Canberra Game

We squandered several try-scoring opportunities in the first half with poor ball retention!

We again gave away a try in the final moments of the first half (after poor discipline from Senter gave away two penalties in succession)!

Mears was average at best - and his presence provides very little for the team in attack or defence! Even his defensive work-rate is not what it once was!

Covell's defence on Gafa for the 2nd try was very ordinary - and he struggled to get to the rolling ball on the ground on a couple of occasions!

We were often forced to rely on scrambling defence on our own line as we failed to wrap up the ball (especially from Schifcoske)!

Our wide attack relied too heavily on the involvement of Brett Hodgson - with little penetration coming from the rest of the three-quarter line!

Prince's decision to kick two consecutive mid-field bombs from the 40 metre line into a howling wind were two of the dumbest halfback options to be taken in the NRL this season!

Having said all of that - the positives outweighed the negatives and the only change I would like to see next week is Senter in for Mears and a another running forward on the bench!

Very hard on Covell mate.I thought he did all he could to save that try.

Prince's kicking was crap.

And I agree on the Mears bit, they should swap him and Senter for sure(waits for howls of protest).

Like you say the positives DID outweigh the negatives so you have to be pretty happy, not forgetting we are in the top 8,and we will be playing the Dogs without Mason,O Meley and Price.

We have to be a chance there.

Yeah i agree with most of your points there snide although i dont think Covell can be criticised too harshly about that try. That period before half time is a real worry though, im sure they're aware of this .........i hope!

Princes kicking game was solid but those 2 bombs were just a crazy as canberra's short kick offs.

Mears and Senter will swap soon enough. I just wonder how long it will be before Mears is back playing premier league too.

Have to disagree on the Senter/ Mears point.

From my beer affected memory banks, I recall the forwards getting a roll-on when Mears was organising them in the first twenty; then a distinct lack of forward power for forty for the middle of the game when Sneter was out there; and then the forwards coming back into the game when Mears came back on.

I don't care who belongs to what club and in the past thought Senter was clearly the better player but at the moment Mears seems to have the goods to me.

I thought last week Dazza was clearly the better performer while this week I'd struggle to split them

the one thing that is clear though is that dazza's arm is still bothering him and I think its effecting his passing - he threw some very dodgy passes yesterday

I'd probably use him in the backrow until he's 100% and then I think mears will end up back with the maggies

go back and have a look at the gafa try and tell me how quick the play the ball was ?? it was the quickest bloody play the ball i have ever seen so that try had nothing to do with covell tigers on backfoot and fast play the ball the winger has no chance !!!

Luke was playing with a dislocated finger which wouldn't have helped.

A dislocated finger does not explain a high air-swing when a shoulder shot to the mid-riff was required!

As for Darren - I would prefer to see him start (if Farah is out of the picture as things seem to be)!!

He is simply a better player than Mears on the whole!!!! (One that note - neither has the dummy-half service that I would like to see from the Tigers - just look at Buderus to provide a benchmark)!!!

the biggest dissapointment this week again for me is the kick chase game.
at least the chase game of the tigers was a major improvement on last week.but the kicking game was bllody terrible.
the sad fact was that our best kicks were from payten and satts.

prince had 7 kicks inside the 20 with 5 kicks producing nothing positive with one kick going to the wrong side after a great set by the tigers.
one kick gets a try from a ricochet and the other gets a return set.
2 mid field bombs and one of them led to a try to the opposition the next play.at that point in the game it was not the smart thing to do.

then outside the 20 kicks we had 1 go dead,2 taken on the full and 1 decent kick that found space.

this time there are no excuses people, don't go blaming the forwards again on this shit kicking performance.

as for senter,he seemed to play more second row than hooker and didn't inspire me in either position to be honest, although he was rock solid in defence as usual.
mears kept the flow going during the first half and was good enough to read the play and not play the dummy half running game.

our 5th tackle options and execution is letting us down badly at the moment,we are letting teams off the hook way too much.

the tigers also have to address the 30-60min mark,we are playing crap footy during this period every week.

up to the 30min mark we have been ahead or level in 7 out of 9 games and the 2 we were behind by 2 and 4 points.

but between the 30-60 min mark we have been beaten 7 out of 9 games.

our ball control and options in attack have been terrible during this point in the game.go watch all the games and just go directly to this point in the game and you would think we were wooden spooners.

Last week his arm hung for a while, we thought oh no! It's definaltey still tender, or he is protecting a bit, (which is natural). I just hope he hasn't come back too early! :-k
