They were trying to lose. They didn't want to travel to Brisbane next week. They just didn't expect to concede 60. Obviously they are not coached to lose narrowly. You can stop worrying now, except that Parra might do exactly the same thing.

It is going to be very interesting this afternoon and evening. I believe that one of two outcomes will eventuate:

1. Canberra beats Cronulla and Parramatta decides which is more important - beating the Wests Tigers, getting third and playing Melbourne next week or finish fifth and get a home final. I imagine the former would still be preferred, as you get that second bite of the cherry.

2. Cronulla beats Canberra and Parramatta definitely loses, so they can finish fourth and play Penrith, just down the road.

I just hope that we are focusing on next week and last night was simply an aberration.

Parra need to get their season back on track and carry some positive momentum into the finals. They’ll at least be trying to win.

Oh well, ladies and gentlemen, and fellow Roosters fans, tragics and supporters. We now play Penrith at the foot of the mountains. As far as I have seen and can tell at the moment, I am presuming that this will be on Friday night.

What is everyone's views on this? I think we can bounce back in style and hopefully get them well. It will be their greatest test this season so far, without a doubt. The sooner we get back to playing and put that debacle on Friday night behind us, the better as far as I am concerned. Looking forward to that. Easts to win!

Everyone’s treating the magnitude of the loss as some sort of psychological hurdle. This team overcame Cronk’s scapula issue and sin bin in two GFs. People have short memories. I think the loss will be a motivator more than anything else.

We won't truly know what last week's result means until next week but you are right, if anyone thinks this team will be mentally defeated or overawed by the occassion they are deadset kidding themselves.

Penrith have a wonderful winning streak going but we have our own streak, 6 finals wins in a row, a couple of which were under enormous pressure.

It is time to get it on. Win lose or draw the panthers will know they have been in finals game.
