It happened to me with my PS2 version.

Did the saved file disappear or did the entire memory card delete itself?

entire file , i looked in the ps2 saved files and nrl 2004 is still there, but doesn't run. its on ps2.

What actually happened? Can you outline, step by step, the events leading up to this problem?

So you when you use the PS2 Software to view the memory card's contents you can still see the Rugby League file? What does it say when you try to load the file in-game? Have you tried copying it onto another memory card?

Its easy enough to kill a save file, a mate killed mine the other day by simply chucking in the mem card with the RL save file after the game had loaded then the first time he tried to save it overwrote the thing, since the overwrite question comes up so often he just ignored it. Doesn't really bother me since my PS2 version is just for multiplayer, if someone killed my PC save file then I'd have the shits.
