New Board Required ?

I guess this is the worst case scenario, but considering how incompetent our board is and their inability to address any issue without f**king it up completely, before blaming some body else, maybe it's time the NRL stepped in and either puts our board on notice or appoints a caretaker board to sort the sh*t out thats been created by these self centred morons that have trouble realising it is not all about them,Western Suburbs or Balmain, its about the greater good of the WT.Without some intervention
the WT existence may be in jeopardy.Any body got any thoughts on this matter ?

Fully agree. The board is a shambles. Everything about the Tigers is played out in the media before the people involved even know what is happening. The whole point of the board is to run an effective business, which noone can say it is doing. They need to focus on solely the greater good of WESTS TIGERS as a business and stop running football operations.

If Smith has said that WT won't be getting any financial assistance until there's an independent board then you'd hope it'd force the current lot to pull their head out of collective arses....

Good lord. If things are as bad as they are talking on the continuous call team, I feel for you blokes.

We take some beating on the basket case ratings, but Jesus things sound pretty screwed up.

Hope they sort all these issues out soon.

Chins up guys!

I would not take anything said by those wankers as being close to accurate.

I've made my feelings clear about the board on a number of occasions.

My stance hasn't changed. Clearly they are too incompetent to run the club and too corrupt to put the best interests of the club ahead of their own. The NRL have already made financial assistance contingent upon the old guard stepping aside and fielding an independent board and still the board won't step down. I'm assuming this assistance includes salary cap concessions, which means you won't see Brooks play this year and Potter will have to keep fielding passengers like Anasta and blokes whose hearts are no longer in it like Ayshford and Marshall, meaning he'll continue to face unwarranted criticism in the media and from blokes like R2Coupe. This board is a cancer on the soul of the Tigers and the NRL should act to protect one of it's most recognisable franchises by removing the board and appointing Mayer as administrator until an independent board can be elected by the members.

That's great but who selects this independent board and if Wests and Balmain are not represented then what is the point.

I'm sure Wests Ashfield wouldn't be happy to continue to provide their grant to a club that no longer recognises it's past.

As I understand it, the board is currently half Balmain and half Wests Ashfield. When I said an independent board, it probably gave the impression that neither Wests or Balmain would be represented, so my bad.

The NRL said it expected a unified board with independent directors, so the ideal scenario would be that Wests and Balmain would both have a single delegate and the remaining non executive directors would be people independent of both Wests and Balmain. How they would be appointed, I'm not sure, but there probably needs to be a moratorium on old boys from the foundation clubs holding independent director roles to prevent the same factionalism of past stifling the club's performance.

See, easier said then done.

The sooner the dinosaurs realise that Western Suburbs nor Balmain will never be represented at NRL level again the sooner we can all start concentrating on getting Wests Tigers moving forward.

It's frustrating that after 14 seasons this garbage is still going on. Can't these boof heads understand we saved each other from extinction and actually work together.

I would want any director to be a fan of the Wests Tigers, not a blow in; therefore unless they were born after 1999 (highly doubtful) they would have been fans of Western Surburbs or Balmain. So, where are these independent directors; they don't exist.

I don't want some non-league businesspersons dictating to a rugby league side; if people want this, then I give up. It is a bloody sport with a history.

That's my whole problem with the board. They are hopelessly unprofessional. I don't want a pack of halfwits sacking a CEO because he has the temerity to implement performance targets for the coaching staff. Given the actions of the current crop of directors, I reckon a bunch of non league business people would be less likely to meddle in the day to day running of the club.

What I want is a board that will let the management organise the club to give the coaches the support and the facilities they need to have the best chance of success on the football field.

Humphrey's was useless and needed to go.

Just dissolve the joint venture and give the licence to the Magpies. Love to see them back in the big time.

Full reform.
Independent board with no ties to the club. Run it as an efficient business without the emotion.

Humphreys was a lame duck entirely because of the board. If the last CEO got the arse for trying to hold a coach accountable, of course he's going to re-sign the coach. If he doesn't, he loses his job.
