Gday, ive only just discovered the fun pastime of betting on the dogs (even though im up the pub all the time and kinda watch em, but have never bet on them until recently). Anyways, i was just wondering if there are any particular dogs to look out for, ie ones to bet on, ones to stay clear of etc...
Any advise would be much appreicated.

Don't really follow particular dogs...

But something to look out for is fast beginners.

They don't put the sheets up in my local pubs, but they do at the tab. It's bellow the fields and they indicate by little arrow heads how the dog begins and it lets you know wether they jump R (rails), W (wide) or M (middle).

Obviously the ones with the arrow head further to the right are the supposed fastest beginners. I've got a lot of nice little exactas by picking 2 of the 3 fastest out and picking them in order with regards to box and wether they jump wide or to the rails etc. Or if they have a couple of slow beginners beside them.

If at the pub, they put the ratings up on sky in the bottom left of screen before the dogs races. They have the 3 'speed' rated dogs in order with arrows aswell.

Getting to that first bend and out of the traffic is very important :D

Right into the Dogs due to my wife working for a massive dog fan who owns around 10 dogs.(has owned many many more)
All the Bale Dogs are owned by the one owner.
He has heaps of dogs mainly in Vic and SA but they do run in Sydney/Brisbane as well.
Paul Wheeler I think is his name.
Fantastic for the industry.
A few well known people like Terry Hill(not so much as others) and Tony Lockett have many dogs and invest heavily in the industry.
Whilst a lot of these dogs are well bred and will win a lot of races(good luck to them) I still stick with the box numbers (unless my wifes boss/Friends have something running).
Always a good night out for the kids.

I generally will look for the 8, and back it if the following apply

It's rated 90 or better, and the odds are at least 2.50, if not i stay away.

never back a dog in boxes 5 or 6, stick to the inner boxes...1,2,3

Agree with macca, don't pick the slow starters!
