As some would know and just to get people talking about them....

According to a posting at Toolband.com, TOOL's brand-new album was mastered on Tuesday, January 31 at Gateway Mastering Studios in Portland, Maine by Bob Ludwig. The members of the band were present during the mastering, according to a posting on the site.

TOOL's first CD since 2001's "Lateralus" is tentatively scheduled for release in late April or early May. A video directed by guitarist Adam Jones is also said to be in the works, with members of the band preparing to embark on an an international press tour for the new effort. Photos taken during the recording of the LP, which were posted on Jones' online blog, showed that QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE's Josh Homme, MELVINS guitarist King Buzzo and ISIS frontman Aaron Turner had stopped into the studio during the sessions. It's not yet known whether the guests will appear on the album.

Can't freaking wait :D

Hope it is better than Lateralus.

while I thought Lateralus was okay, it was not in the same league as Aenima.

Mate, about the only thing that disappoints me about any Tool release is the amount of "filler" tracks. Each release has progressed in it's own way and I can't wait for that first listen to see what's in store on the next one.

Footy Sat morning and a new Tool release to look forward to, no complaints at the moment.

Agreed. Lateralus had some great highlights but I don't feel the desire to sit down and listen to the whole album like I do with Aenema.

Yeah I'm really lookin' forward to the new Tool release. I've had my head up my arse of late so I had no idea there was anything in the pipeline. As Bobo said there is the filler factor with their releases, even Aenima had some stuff that just served to take up time. But I guess Aenima was to Tool as to what the Black album was to Metallica certainly in terms of commercial success and accessibility (apologies to hardcore Metallica fans!).

Hevy I know exactly how you feel, I put Lateralus on about a month ago, hadn't heard it in ages but I regularly put Aenima on.

I remember getting caught up in the hype just before Lateralus was released, and a lot of us had really high expectations.

Triple J had a special just before Lateralus was released, which had some pretty interesting stuff in it. Apparently it was one of the first albums recorded in 20-bit digital (it says it is a HDCD).

Check Toolband.com for details, it's the boys themselves that talk about thier progress in recording and mixing. This has been in the making for a while but getting word that mixing has finished means just production, shipping and marketing is left to be done before we get our hands on it.

I wouldn't bother looking for this on the net until it's released by the way. For Aenema Tool themselves posted a bunch of fake tracks out on the net and didn't send out any promos to radio stations, the stations heard it when it got played it to them in person and Tool kept the recording to themselves until the last possible moment. This made it damn near impossible to get it ahead of time and I am expecting the same this time around, I havnt even bothered checking and will simply wait till the release date.

Kick off in less than 13 hours, WOOHOO!!!

Sounds awesome, can't wait..So many bands these days "mature" their sound as the years go by, it's always reassuring to know that Tool will continue to pump out a sound that has barely changed.

The intro sounds strangely like The Patient though...
