New V8 in to storage

A question for some of car loving members.

I am putting my Holden SS Thunder Ute in to storage for a few months as I will be travelling a little bit once the NRL season starts and I have a new company car. Any suggestions? Should I give it a run once a week? Service it before it goes in to storage (only has 12,000KM on it)? Do I disconnect the battery (alarmed and it will flatten it)?

Any advice appreciated.

A few months shouldnt be a problem. If you disconnect the battery you will need to reset your radio codes etc when you reconnect it. Also it is likely the battery will still die after a few months of inactivity. It might be worth getting a cheap battery conditioner to hook up to it. Then you dont need to disconnect it & it will be gently cycled while you are away.

Other than that make sure all your fluid levels are correct & the fluids are in good condition. It also may be worthwhile to leave the windows down about 5mm to stop the inside getting a bit musty. That would depend on where you are storing it though.

Feel free to store it here. I'll make sure it doesn't get dusty, musty, or flat.

Unless it's in that God awful Cadbury purple. Then it'll end up on fire.

Or Poison Ivy. Then you don't get it back.

Get the engine running for about 10 minutes per week so it doesn't go cold. Maybe even a short trip around the neighbourhood will do it a world of good. Has it had it's first service yet? If not, then get the oil changed when you start using it more frequently after storage.
