Chalmers is the guy who proposed the original orcas nrl bid split between Wellington and chch (6 games each)

With his involvement here it’s guaranteed they are playing games in Wellington and probs more than one
Done right, this could be a smart move.

Positioning the club as for "NZ outside Auckland" means a potential supporter base more than the 1.2ish million of the South Island alone, even if they draw the line at Taupo and allow the Warriors regions like Waikato/Bay Of Plenty & Northland, it's still somewhat more even than a North Island/South Island split.

Plus it could work as a potential safeguard against a 3rd NZ team, IF they really engage with Wellington.. playing the long game, right?

There is nothing of the sort “guaranteed “ based on what he proposed a decade ago

“The Orcas’ bid includes plans for a $60 million football club and $90 million centre of excellence.

A $180 million hotel, leagues club and entertainment precinct funded by public and private investors has been added to the bid initially rejected by the NRL.”

Sounds like the coach is Madge lol what if he’s a success at the broncos

What are they saying about the Wellington games?

This says they have revised their bid since rejection

There are a tonne of other articles but all seem the same
Love their ambition. Team 18, 19 & 20 look set.

Article also reads
Sides from PNG and Perth will be admitted to the NRL first but the Orcas hope to be the 20th team invited in. In re-launching their campaign for inclusion and acknowledging their previous bid was below par, consortium chiefs declared: "Paul Hogan said that's not a knife – this is a knife. Well, that's not a bid - this is a bid."

PNG article called them team 19.

Love for all 3 to get up really.

Perth bears then png was never in doubt and chch strong odds for 20

So not surprised

Just wish Perth would hurry up and sort out their crap so we can move forward with the other teams

And the Wellington games ?

I believe a decade ago he proposed something or other which I’m sure remains relevant
Orcas is the name of the team that represents Wellington

Chalmers previous southern orcas bid was 6 games in Wellington and 6 in Christchurch

Unlike Perth nz knows what an nda is

They really did well to keep this hush

What a blockbuster bid
What's particularly clever is the fact they kept it hush... rival bids didn't know what they were up against..Perth didn't put up a cent... Kea..20 million..
Now they're all playing catch up..
And even the folks on here still coming to terms with the word " bid " 🤦‍♂️
