Yeh nzru turned pro because of the Warriors, it had nothing at all to do with the massive amount of money that flowed into their game from news ltd in 1995 That allowed union around the world to turn pro. You two have rocks in your head lol
TBF, RU in the Southern Hemisphere literally did start to seriously explore going pro in response to the SL war and fears that the amount of money in RL would eat into their player base and market if they didn't offer competitive contracts. If the SL war and growth of RL in AUS (and NZ to a lesser extent) doesn't happen then Super Rugby doesn't happen when it happened, and how it happened, and Southern Hemisphere RU doesn't go pro when it went pro.

Though the Northern Hemisphere were headed the same way on their own, and for similar reasons BTW, the Southern Hemisphere Unions going pro forced the Northern Hemisphere Unions to fast track the transition to (open) professionalism as well.

Lots of RU people will deny this out of pride, but it's recorded history, and there isn't really any denying that it's what happened.

What? More All Blacks are going to train with NRL and AFL teams in their time off as an exercise in expertise sharing?

You didn't read that article did you.
Oh I surely did

all blacks made a massive mistake allowing this

the natural progression will be he will want to test himself now against the nrl boys

he will love the higher intensity training and standards of league

going back to the all blacks is going to be a let down after he has trained with the storm boys and seen the level of skill in our game

Nzru and the rest of the southern hemi turned pro because news ltd game them the money to be able to afford to do so, same as rl in England. It had sweet fa to do with the warriors entering the comp lol
I don’t know why you do this to yourself

you should stick to the topics you know what you are talking about

Whatever they are

You still cooked? Tell us again how rugby union only went pro because the warriors entered the ARL, I need a laugh before I go to bed.

A taste of things to come

Shit you get dumber by the day, He spends one day with the storm, and one day with an AFL team and you actually think it means something??

And as for your assertion the "all blacks made a massive mistake allowing this".. The "All Blacks" aren't paranoid idiots like you. He spent his week off seeing if he could learn something from two different codes. Unlike you, he is actually quite intelligent.

Just a coincidence..😂

  • Establish a second Kiwi franchise in 2024 in either Wellington or Christchurch.

While a lot has happened since the Article, this clearly isn't happening. Not a peep out of anyone here about any bid for an NRL team.

It is surprising, I would have thought there’d have been some interest come out of nz, but then other than the png mob who happen to be on a junket in Sydney at the time we haven’t heard from any possible bid teams yet, other than bears lol and the wa govt who said the same as before.
mind you its Sydney media driven largely and they are too lazy to get on the phone to anyone.

This is an actually fair and balanced assessment of the situation. Rugby league was definitely a factor, as both the ARL and SL clubs had already poached several high profile rugby players (Matthew Ridge, John Gallagher, Vai’ga Tuigamala, John Schuster) and the Warriors got a couple more in John Kirwan and Marc Ellis, but there was also the influence of the likes Murdoch and Packer trying to entice players to potential breakaway pro competitions, as well as the return of South Africa to international competition which made amateu status more tricky to retain because the South Africans hadn’t been as strict about keeping their game amateur.
RU just evolved beyond a point where it was practical to stay amateur and competition from League was just one part of that equation.

The country is heading into a recession and with the billions lost in the cyclone last month it's not surprising that sponsorships will be next to impossible to get. So Chalmers claim that he can put together 30 million to start a club is gone up in smoke.
Throw in Sky not going to pay anywhere near the same after '27 Australian clubs will not want to take the risk. And There is no benefit to Aussie broadcasters with an NZ team rather than an Aussie based one.
It's really simple. NZ2 is not going to happen anytime soon, and more than likely never going to happen.

No news ltd no ft pro ru. No warriors they’d still have gone pro if newss ltd threw same cash at them.
your claim that the warriors were the reason nzru went pro is delusional
I’m sure you’ve learnt a lot now about this topic from what you knew a few days ago … which was nothing
