St George Illawarra forward Ashton Sims has had the three teeth loosened by Clint Newton's elbow wired into place and could play in the Dragons' last NRL game before the finals.
Sims had the teeth wired in place on Saturday and will see club doctor Martin Raftery on Monday to get the all-clear for the Dragons' clash with Manly on Sunday.
St George Illawarra have the bye the following week - the last round before the finals get underway.
"He's had his teeth wired," Raftery said on Sunday.
"It's like having braces on your teeth. The braces stabilise them so they stay in place."
Sims, who had six stitches inserted in his chin after his teeth punctured the skin, holds no malice towards Newton for Friday's incident.
But that's unlikely to save the Newcastle forward from a lengthy suspension.
