Next TRI Series in Aus and NZ

Assuming that the Tri Series is a success, as I'm pretty sure it will be, will the next one be played in Australia and NZ? If they Started the season a couple of weeks early, I'm sure it would be a success, both in Crowd numbers and TV Ratings wise. A couple of lead up games by GB and the Kiwi's would certainly do a lot to generate interest.

Anyone have an idea on what is planned past 2004?

I certainly hope it's out here in Oz and NZ next year, i think it would be well supported i also think it's too much to expect British RL fans to keep forking out money year after year for the tri nations

I hope so. It would be great if this becomes a regular fixture that all players look forward to, just like the Origin.

Although to give the players some time to recover I think the NRL regular season will have to be shortened.

What about the ESL, I mean their season is longer than our's and have less teams. I also think we've got to plan this properly, all teams must have a warm up match before their tough encounter. We dont wanna see another cricket score against GB.

I've LOVE to go to an Aus V GB game. I went to the NZ test this year and really enjoyed it.

Likewise.

I went to the Aus v NZ test at Newcastle and, although it was a blow-out in the end, I really enjoyed the atmosphere of an international match.

Would be brilliant to experience an Aus v GB game.

Cheers.

I would one day like to see NZ as full host of the tournament, i think it's what the game needs over there.

the 3 best nations playing in NZ infront of big crowds would be the biggest boost to there game ever, plus i want to go back for another holiday.

I had a heap of fun at that game.

It would be great to see the game come here and too NZ, however it would kill the poms to have to play in this heat. I think that is a main factor of it not being here this yr as well.

The way the games are going it will set the scene for real international competition in Australia once again. Games that will get big crowds, big interest and fantastic ratings.

And the New Zealand team is only going to be stronger in the coming years. I just hope the Tri Nations continues to be successful for the remaining games. Britain were fantastic last weekend, with no warm up game.

I believe Australia and NZ get to host one before 2008. Anyone wanna play "pick the venues". I love that game.

AU v GB - Suncorp
AU v GB - SCG (for nostalgia's sake) ???
AU v NZ - Olympic Park
NZ v AU - Erricson Stadium
NZ v GB - North Harbour/Hamilton
NZ v GB - Wellington

FINAL - SFS

----

Any thoughts? The opener at Brisbane is a chance to introduce international RL to the new Lang Park. Maybe an opening ceremony as well. The SCG is a gamble. It's an oval but I think the whole nostalgia gimmick is necessary to boost some ticket sales. The final at the SFS recognises that it may not sell out at Telstra.

A Melbourne game spreads the tournament geographically. I think a small venue like Olympic Park would do well. The NZ v GB games are also are a chance to spread the code from Auckland.

How could I forget!!!!

Each of the three teams could also play PNG on weeks off. Either in PNG (if it is safe and reasonable) or in Townsville and North Harbour.

I like you're thinking, Jeffles. Would prefer to see a game played in Newcastle than Melbourne, but that's just personal bias. I like to think Newcastle would get a better crowd, too.

Love the idea of playing PNG in the off-week. If the European Nations Cup had been better planned- the current tri series participants could clash with the likes of France, Wales, Ireland etc.

I think the tri nations should be played every 4 years, and lets return to full tours with 3 tests between NZ, Aus & Eng.

Full tours? Nah. This concept - rotated from Eng to Aus/NZ every year - has more potential for revenue and crowds.

I like the above suggestion except for the SCG. Play it as the SFS as well.

You could take a gamble on Telstra if you provide cheap tix with other ticket purchases and give free/very cheap tix to junior clubs. Big gamble to get it filled but they could sacrifice some revenue for the better looking product for TV.
