Just wanted to see the reaction showing the sl tv deal had fallen in half since you were talking down the nrl tv deal
Dolphins value hasn’t been taken to market

You yourself said that.

All of the teams being added will only have value to Aussie broadcasters due to existing viewers in eastern states watching the extra games each week or the addition of a new live and exclusive time slot

And if we get a paying tv deal one day from png remember who said it first
There is def the opportunity for nrl to work with telstra on a png deal. It’s value and if it justifies the long term existence of a png club is yet to be seen.
is there much competition for mobile carriers in png or is digicell it?

They have 93 percent of the market

PNG and nz2 imo will down the track generate around 50 million pa combined from their home broadcast markets (covers the cost of their grants)

Plus giving extra content for Aussie tv of around 24 games

Your club will eventually add value via Perth growth and also bears fans becoming more active

And they still have the potential of Monday night football and streaming origin for Fox

I could see seven and Fox putting a joint bid for origin at around 70 million

That still leaves the whole nrl plus origin to sell to nine

How far down the track do you anticipate the current nz $25mill cash to morph into double?

Next deal should be up to 40 million given the warriors ratings and nz2 coming in 2028

You still sticking to the next deal going down ?
The next skynz deal? Potentially now spark is out of the picture. Team 20 is not coming in till 2030+ allegedly and as yet don’t know of it will be another nz team. Not sure skynz will be valuing perth and png coming in much.

What’s been ignored by the usual suspects is down the track the nrl will be getting tv revenue from 3 nations

All we talk about is how the nrl dwarfs afl ratings in Australia.

The way ratings are going I can see just the Australian tv deal beating afl

With the nz and potential png tv deals just a bonus on top

Both nz and png could bring significant future tv deals too

Long term they should be aiming for a tv deal of 1 billion pa

So who is Sky's competition in NZ?

So who is Sky's competition in NZ?
So why don’t they just pay zero since they have no competition ?

Theres been no competition against FoxSports for the nrl rights yet they have offered more every time

Shocking I know.

Yes but the $40m you claimed above is a fair figure. It is though barely an inflation raise considering we are talking a deal that runs until 2032

They (skynz) didn’t pay any extra for over a decade (ergo less in real terms) and only did when spark came along and challenged their rights ownership.

They never gave the nrl fta coverage like this either

Nrl now outrates super rugby in nz

Maybe in your world that’s not important but I would suggest it is

Remember when you said nz wasn’t a likely choice because they had no bids ?

Now there are four bidders from nz

FIXING ORIGIN

NRL club bosses have been presented with a series of scheduling options to solve the current State of Origin conundrum – although they will have to wait until 2028 for any changes to come into effect.

It is understood that among the options discussed were:

– retaining the existing schedule;

– playing Origin games one week apart; and

– playing Origin games with a two week gap in between.

Origin scheduling has been a vexing issue for the game as officials look to balance the integrity of the NRL competition with the need to maximise one of the showpiece events on the rugby league calendar.

It appears any changes will need to wait until the existing broadcast agreement expires at the end of 2027.

However, the clubs are set to have a decisive say in how it is played from 2028 as the NRL prepares to open talks with broadcasters over fresh agreements.

The NRL has traditionally bundled Origin into the commercial broadcast rights but they haven’t ruled out selling the series as its own entity in

The deal to sell Foxtel for an undisclosed sum could be completed before Christmas, three sources with knowledge of the deal said. Foxtel’s debt load is about $1.2 billion. The news was first reported by Capital Brief.

Billionaire backed

There goes that argument

What argument?

Yes they have money but they need competition to bid overs.

The situation has not changed. In fact should you read the article you will see DAZN had $1b in losses. To go with Foxtels $1.2b...

So isn't just a bid for everything situation

Foxtel can’t afford to pay more.

Be interesting to see how the News ltd media deal with NRL when they are no longer the owners of the rights.

DAZN's got a big global footprint, lets hope they see value in growing Rugby League. Hopefully they go after SL and French RL as well to create a global RL offering.
