NFL 2018 - Week 1

The shit thing is nobody knows his plan. If he doesn't want to come back until week X then let the team know.

He can't make any more money this year, he's locked into that contract. He loses $850k every week he's out. Just put a timeline on it so the team can plan. The o-line guys are really pissed, they expected him there today but he's playing games. Don't know what he expects to get out of it by keeping his plans a secret.

Sounds to me like he's concerned about the Steelers running him into the ground without paying him, he might be happy to sit out a year and save the tread on his tyres for future years when he gets paid what he thinks he's worth.

Still can't believe he turned down that offer

I don't buy the running him into the ground angle. It doesn't make sense for a team in a SB window, he has had durability issues in the past. Conner has played his way into snaps this off season, I'd say his workload is a good chance of lessening.

f**k Collinsworth.
Im still furious about his bullshit in the reviews of the SB. The Ertz one in particularly. f**king merkin faced goon!
go back and listen to the shit he was saying in the falcons game when Jones had the touchdown overruled and then get even more angry. It was the exact opposite of what he was saying for ertz.

This is my reasonable assumption bit. Why would they offer him only $10m when he's making more on the tag? You need to include whatever his base salary would have been which probably would have taken it to around the $21m fully guaranteed Gurley got.

The reports were he'd make $33m over 2 and $45m over 3 years, and the Steelers generally work with rolling guarantees, basically what/how Gurley is getting his money.

here's what was reported.

Mentioned yesterday the #Steelers
final offer to RB Le’Veon Bell was 5 years, $70M. More context today: The fully guaranteed part was his signing bonus of just over $10M. He would’ve made $33M over the 1st two years — in a rolling guaranteed structure. $45M over the 1st 3 years.

$10m fully guaranteed. he would make more guaranteed money by signing his franchise tag.

gurley got $22m fully guaranteed when he signed his contract. and he took a discount because he was getting his money 2 years early.

If they were any good at marketing, they'd call that storm cell "big dick Nick"

"Big dick Nick is coming"
"Big dick Nick is raining down on us"

Why would they run freeman inside the 5 yard line when they have Coleman? I don't get coaches sometimes.

Pretty sure I read somewhere that Freeman was very productive for them inside the 5 last year, size is sometimes a little overrated in those situations, Burkhead is another guy that comes to mind that does well

The way I read it, that's ignoring the first year salary portion which hasn't been reported anywhere. If you believe that $10m was all he would make this year, then you have to believe they were going to pay him $23m next year to get to the reported $33m mark. Doesnt sound right to me.

I took it as if he suffered a career ending injury before the season started all he would get is $10m. If he had signed the franchise tag he would get $14m fully guaranteed.
