Does LA have an NFl team? Icant say that i'm a major follower of the sport but it keeps my interest and today I was checking out the standing in the AFC and NFC. Ofcourse both have West divisions but I couldn't find an LA team in either East division.

Also about a week ago I was watching Jay Leno's Tonight show and he had rapper Snoop dogg as a guest. I cant remember the jist of the interview but I remember snoop mentioned something along the lines of LA not having a presence in the NFL.

LA has the clippers and Lakers in Basketball and I know they have baseball teams but what about Grid Iron? Are they like Melbourne in Australia where any other sport apart from AFL receives little attention or is there a reason they have no team?

Los Angeles currently does not have an nfl team, and that has been the case since the Raiders and Rams both skipped town after the '94 season. There are the occasional murmurings of teams (most notably the Colts and Saints, particularly the latter these days) moving to L.A., and the nfl would presumably dearly love a team there, considering that is the second-largest TV market in America and all...but the lack of organsation amongst those who want football back in l.a. is the major concern still i think.

There were murmurings of a new franchise setting up there inside of a few years, playing out of either the Colliseum or the Rose Bowl.

There is a lot of talk that LA will have a team around 2008 ish....

It will be an exisiting franchise that moves there though, not a new team...

As others have said, their have been whispers about the Saints....

I personally would think that the Arizona Cardinals would be the most likely choice....

I think those old stadiums are the problem. The Raiders left because they wanted a new stadium, and the Rams had left the Coliseum for nearby Anaheim before they moved to St. Louis. When the Houston Texans came in as an expansion team, there was a bid from LA, but it fell through partly, I think, due to the lack of a commitment from the city to build a new stadium.

It is amazing that the 2nd or 3rd biggest market in the US doesn't have a team. Being old, I still think of them as the LA Rams, a glamour team in the 60s and 70s, though they never won much.
